The Erie County Department of Health has determined some are scheduling multiple first dose appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.Poloncarz says in one case a person scheduled seven appointments. In a Facebook post the county executive said the following:"It is hard enough for most to get a COVID-19 vaccine, but our Health Department has determined some are scheduling multiple first dose appointments for themselves. One person actually scheduled seven appointments! The reason given for scheduling multiple doses vary, but it is unfair to everyone else if a person schedules multiple first doses with our Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) and other providers. Please do not hoard appointments. When you have your first appointment be happy and don't schedule more.Be a good neighbor, please don't hoard appointments, schedule only one for yourself."Tuesday Poloncarz announced the county is working to set up a mass COVID-19 vaccination site at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Once operational the site would be capable of administering 3,000 doses or more per day.Wednesday New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the state will open a COVID-19 vaccination site at the Delavan Grider Community Center. The site will open March 3 and will be able to administer 1,000 doses of the vaccine per day.
