Talking Depew Election sends clear message to Lancaster Town Board and J.C.

Vote against Depew Action Party - sends clear message to Lancaster Town Board and J . C .

First , _ BRAVO to our New Depew Village Board Members - !!

I have heard the ripples of this already spreading across the Bureaucratic Pond we have come to live in called Lancaster . .

One can only hope those who backed these changes can stand beside the New Village of Depew History Making Mayor Elect and Staff . .

This is not the end of the story by any stretch of the imagination . Getting J. C's Boys out is but a Historic Baby Step toward better Local Government . . .

It's not hard to point out the self-serving interests of those removed . Those arrogant misuses were habitual and obvious to those who looked beyond the party lines . With that said , we all must look forward and plan ahead . The new Mayor and Board members will be stone walled , tripped up and impeded by a handful of those they supervise . Reform is never easy or welcomed by those who feed off others.

I hope those who pointed out the need for change will now become the new standard bearers for the Newly Elected . Don;t sit back and watch - set a time and place to meet with and exchange ideas and information with the newly elected . Show them in a gentle way the changes and ideas that can support and bring about true reform . Reform is not easy for those who asked for change either . Now that a small victory (in overall politics) has been accomplished , strategies must also be adjusted . Those who were aggressively advocating change should now be a vehicle for that change . .

Don't think for a second that these Elected officials can or should be able to stand alone . They will be intimidated - some times lightly - some times outwardly provoked by those who seek to regain control . There is history , heritage and a sense of "Entitlement" to be dealt with and understood . Its now time for the "Vocal Minority" , "NIMBY's" and others to help show positive initiatives and honest long term planning . .

Don't hesitate to write down the volumes of information you have gathered and share that with your new board members . Do this in a respectful manner - in Village Hall - not just at Board Meetings . The supporters of the ousted ones will waste no time in their efforts . The major Players have not left Town . They will use every trick in the book to fragment the new board members . They will look for the weak link or chink in the armor to separate and alienate those who now seem united .

Last point : This is not a time for a witch hunt ! Employees of the Village and those who provide the services should be included and encouraged to be a positive influence where reform is needed . The New Board should meet , decide on a agenda for inclusion , then meet with all Village Employee's to include their help and ideas . Make time afterwords for personal (confidential) visits with these workers to share positive input - again , not a finger pointing session - just learn how the Employee's feel services can be improved and any possible spending reductions they can recognize . You will be surprised at how many of them really do care about the quality of life in their Village and work place productivity .

In closing : The first major step should be to help swiftly bring about the reduction of the number of Village Board members . Help Mr. Maryniewski keep his word . Allow him to make another historic event happen in the Village of Depew - allow him to lead the way to true reform . He should be more than happy to lead the reduction that he claimed is so necessary . -----------

Or was his idea only applicable when he and those recently ousted thought it would be a tool in reducing the opposition party members ?

The residents of Depew, former Village Board members and those of influence should work together to make a go of the new People’s Voice) PV) party. PV will have a monumental task in righting the village’s woeful financial status.

PV has stated that they will seek to find new sources of revenue. Not likely, considering development opportunities are nil. In such case, either those municipalities tax the hell out of their property owners or go belly up.

Should the new party fail to float the sinking ship, the village government should be abolished. Taxpayers should not be ill used to pay for redundancy. Village employees should therefore work their butts off to help make the village successful.

Abolishment will not be mean “merger” as happened between the Lancaster Town and Village police departments – at least it should not be allowed to happen that way.

Cheektowaga talks trash that they would take over the village police responsibility on their side. Yeah, and lose $3 million in taxes in the process.

Neither Lancaster nor Cheektowaga wants any part of a police merger and the headache that would result in placing them into their departments. The Depew police force now numbers thirty. Does any village police officer believe they will all find jobs in the towns?

Those that do may find themselves in the position of being new hires with lesser benefit packages.

    Gitter done!
