Another shooting last night. This Mayor erkels idea to stop the gun violence.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown sat down with WIVB News 4’s Jordan Norkus Thursday evening to discuss a possible solution to gun violence in the city.

On June 21, 3-year-old Ramone Carter was riding his tricycle outside on Domedion Ave. when he was shot and killed. A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old were indicted in connection to the shooting.

“There are too many guns on the streets in America, too many illegal guns,” said Brown. “And tragedies like what happened with Ramone Carter are playing themselves out just about every day in the United States of America. Something has to be done and our lawmakers in Washington really need to wake up to it.”

When asked about a possible solution to the hundreds of illegal guns in Buffalo, many of which ending up in the hands of teenagers, Mayor Brown said a large part of it has to happen in the home.

“Parents need to be engaged,” he said. “They need be involved in the lives of their children; they need to know what their children are doing … Without that kind of parental involvement and engagement, this kind of thing is difficult to prevent.”

A male was struck by gunfire while outside on the 1400 block of East Delavan Avenue Thursday morning, Buffalo police officials said.

Police responded to the call just after 4 a.m. Officials said a 31-year-old male, of Buffalo, was transported by a civilian vehicle to ECMC where he was taken into surgery.

Hot night gun violence will go up. Three separate shootings last night I would have to say none had a permit to carry. The only people that will carry are the ones with a permit to protect themselves if in the city. Anytime I go into the city I carry but you have these politicians that want the average joe not to have a gun if they wish to do so.. Mayor erkel is one usless tim kenndey, sean patrick all liberal democrat's.

Five people were hurt in three separate shootings around Buffalo early Sunday morning, according to Buffalo police.

Police responded to the first shooting on the first block of Roetzer Street just after midnight Sunday, where a 19-year-old woman had been shot in the foot during a fight at a large block party in the area. She was transported by civilian vehicle to Sisters of Charity Hospital to be treated.

The second shooting occurred at the Rite Aid on Elmwood Avenue near Bryant Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Two males, a 33-year-old and a 30-year-old, were shot while in the parking lot. Both were transported to ECMC to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The third shooting occurred just after 4 a.m. in the vicinity of Woodlawn Avenue and Dupont Street, where two people, a male and a female, were shot during a large street party. They were both transported to ECMC to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Res look at this over the weekend, not Buffalo but this is crazy.

Chicago shootings: 109 shot, 19 fatally, in citywide holiday weekend gun violence, CPD says Kids shot and three mass shootings in the mix.

No one to blame but how that city is run. The Mayor is useless just like the previous one. This needs the military to take the streets.

Gun violence is a ‘societal issue’
In the United States, law enforcement statistics and independent researchers have continually pointed to summer months as a time of increased gun violence, with July 1-7 being an especially violent period each year for both mass shootings and individual incidents.

Heat, experts say, can elevate discomfort and aggression – a potential catalyst for violence at a time kids are out of school and warmer weather drives more people outdoors in a country with more guns than people.

“When we look at what happened this weekend, we always like to say that it’s a police issue,” Chicago Police Department Superintendent Larry Snelling said at the news conference. “This is a societal issue. The police cannot be in everybody’s backyard. They cannot be in everyone’s home. They cannot invade every single gathering where there’s a possibility that someone may show up with a gun.”

The city had canceled time off for police officers to “maximize presence and ensure prompt incident response,” activated an emergency services assistance center to provide support to people in the community and would hold a community rally Friday afternoon to “promote bonding, support, and healing,” according to Johnson.

But the efforts did not end the shootings.

Snelling urged public cooperation and tips to lead detectives to suspects, especially those who “make the choice” to shoot women and children.

“Those people have to be taken off the street,” Snelling implored. “They have to be put away. If we’re not doing that, then we’re failing other families. We’re failing people in our city.”

One of those killed over the weekend was an 8-year-old-boy who was shot alongside two other boys, ages 5 and 8, according to the Chicago Police Department’s online records.

Flowers and futures bloom in Chicago as sustainability-focused nonprofit helps keep youth away from guns and gangs
Several 15- to 16-year-olds were also among those shot over the weekend, police say.

Another one damn has to be the hot weather. thugs are wrestles in the heat.

A Buffalo man was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning outside of the Save A Lot on Grant Street, according to Buffalo police.

The victim, a 41-year-old male, was shot multiple times in the area of the parking lot around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was transported to ECMC by ambulance to be treated for injuries.

Help is on the way. Good luck with this.

Buffalo Common Councilwoman Zeneta Everhart is pushing for the City of Buffalo to establish a gun violence prevention office in order to combat gun violence at the local level.

The initiative is aimed to provide support for families that have been impacted by gun violence, implement evidence-based interventions, encourage community engagement and work with local law enforcement to address illegal gun trafficking in the city.

The initiative is in response to several incidents of gun violence in Buffalo in recent months and years, including the Tops mass shooting on May 14, 2022, a 14-year-old killed when she was among six teens shot on Jefferson Avenue this past May, and the death of a three-year-old on Domedion Avenue last month.

The Sleepy Joe's Administration created an Office of Gun Violence Prevention as a way to get guns off the street and protect families. Everhart, who stood alongside anti-violence groups and lawmakers on Monday, wants to bring that same concept to Buffalo.

“Offices like this are already established across the country because of what happened on 5/14. We don’t have one, which is ridiculous,” Everhart said in a news conference on Monday. “This isn’t about law enforcement. This office is about making sure that if someone is shot on the street, their mother can get counseling so she’s not stressed out and not sleeping in the middle of the night. I

Damn another shooting what a week this has been in the double nickel. Nothing for erkel or the commish all week. What about gun permits for these thugs on the streets walking around with guns?

One person was killed and two people were injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in Buffalo, police officials announced.

Police responded just after midnight to Kensington Avenue and Thatcher Avenue, where three males had been struck by gunfire while outside, officials said.

All three victims were taken to ECMC, where a 47-year-old Buffalo man was pronounced dead, according to police. The two other males, both in their 30s, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Wow like a wild west shoot out chase in cars not on horses this one in the afternoon not after midnight.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Several people were taken into custody after a police pursuit of suspects in a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon on Bird Avenue, Buffalo police officials announced.

Officials said just after 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Bird Avenue, near Grant Street, where police found a 21-year-old male who was struck by gunfire while outside. He was transported by ambulance to ECMC where he was later declared deceased, according to officials.

Suspects reportedly fled in a vehicle, of which officers matched the description and carried out a pursuit through different parts of the city and ended on the outbound Buffalo Skyway.

According to police, the suspects threw firearms and contraband out of the window on the Skyway, with some of the items landing in the Buffalo River.

The suspects fled the vehicle on foot while on Route 5, but all of the occupants were apprehended a short time later by officers from various city police districts.

what the hell are you doing out at 4:30am in this neighborhood. Did the thug have a carry permit for the gun?

One person is facing a murder charge after a man was killed in a shooting at Jersey Street and 7th Street on Buffalo’s West Side early Thursday morning, according to police.

Police said the shooting happened just before 4:30 a.m. during some type of dispute. The victim, identified Friday as 35-year-old Travis Martin of Buffalo, was transported to ECMC where he was later pronounced dead. He was shot in the chest.
