Anonymous posters "Coming out" ?? Are you willing???

I have noticed many times people are challenged to "Reveal themselves." Post their real names.

Nope. There's no control of your identity once you give it away. And for a message board like this, there's really no reason to give yourself that added risk.

Only if everyone but me furnishes their dates of birth, Social Security numbers and photocopies of their signatures.

I'll start the coming out party. Hello! My real name is Jack Ass.

Oops! I think I just opened a much larger door than a closet door!

Contact info should stay private. But I wouldnt be against a photo album with a couple real pics required. Personal choice whether or not to use in avtar.

Otherwise NOPE! And people wouldnt speakout as much either. People need to be detailed in when whistleblowing.

How does using your name make you lose control of your identity?
    The path is clear

You should be very careful about using your names on MB like this.

To give an example, I read about an insurance agent who went on a MB for insurance agents. He used his real name on the MC. He asked a simple question about a law in Ohio. A nice guy in Cali answered with a correct answer but the answer made the guy in OH look like a moron for asking it in the first place. So the guy in OH responded by ripping the guy in Cali a new one and making himself look like a child. The guy in Cali then wrote a blog entry about the guy in OH making him look even worse.

Anyways, now if you Google they guy in OH the top 5 results are from the MB or the Blog of the guy in Cali. Result #6 is his personal website.

Needless to say, GOOGLE REMEMBERS EVERTHING.

The annoymynity factor allows people to say things that they may not otherwise say.

While it can bring out the nastiness in us at times, it also allows us to be more honest.

As much bad stuff as I say about the cops, to use my real name would be idiotic. As it is, some of the more enterprising members of the constabulary have figured out who I am, but fortunately, other that juvenile nonsense, haven't really harmed me yet.

    So, no.
I made a lot of money and spent most of it on booze, fast cars and loose women. I blew the rest.

Yep use real names, addresses, phone number, social security number........
Be real.... I do not even give my real birthdate when filling out those online forms. The Internet is to open and there are to many incompetent people running the show behind the seens.

You should see some of the names I have on mesage boards
It is not about being afraid of what I say but rather there are to many NUTS out there plain and simple.

Some of the crap people say on message boards they should fear for their jobs... If I were the head boss I would be all to willing to introduce the employees butt to the hard asphalt and put on a free fireworks display to boost morale of the other employees.
