    Reopening Business

Here’s a modest proposal for keeping people at work and getting some folks back to work. Under the poorly thought out orders issued by our governor hospitals all over the state are barred from performing elective surgeries. The rationale for this (supposedly) was that hospitals all over the state would need available beds to sop up the overflow from NYC. In fact on March 31 the governor announced that patients were going to be sent to upstate hospitals. Of course a week later the Syracuse newspaper was reporting that there were 350 empty beds in Syracuse hospitals while those hospitals were plunging toward possible bankruptcy. Yesterday we learned about layoffs in the local healthcare industry as beds sit unused waiting for a flood of patients from NYC that is unlikely to materialize. Why not allow upstate hospitals resume outpatient surgeries on a limited basis as long as a percentage of beds are kept available for the long anticipated but yet to materialize flood of NYC refugees. This would get some people back to work or kept at work while still allowing for an eventuality that becomes more remote every day.

That sounds like common sense but...

What happens if just 1 patient contracts Covid-19 while having an elective surgery? You'll never hear the end of it.

They should be tested before surgery as should the entire surgical team. People are talking about not reopening things until the chance of getting the disease is reduced to zero. This will never happen. Many of these people have probably never heard of a condition called “hospital acquired pneumonia”. There always will be risk. And the surgery is elective; if they don’t want it they don’t have to have it.

The man needs to go. Listen to his press conference today. He's bringing up that they are spending more money than ever and have money issues. Really? Then why does Albany and associated political groups continue to do so..? Pushing for more refugess, pushing for more free this and that, pushing for pay raises based on nothing more than time not improvement, etc, etc, etc.

I can't believe there is a group of people this incompetent making decisions that effect our lives.

I read that the Empire State Anti-development corporation has deigned that pool maintenance companies are now deemed an essential service and they may resume opening pools. Il Douche must be getting crap from his millionaire friends in Westchester!

Those Westchester millionaires must really be on the ass of Il Douche. Not only are pool maintenance workers now essential but suddenly golf courses are allowed to reopen. It’s amazing how the thought of losing thousands in campaign contributions can refocus our governor.

I guess the Empire State anti-Development Corp is allowing car washes to reopen...as long as no one is working at them! This helps the state recoup some lost revenue while serving Il Douche’s other goal of keeping the middle class out of work.

Delta Sonic just re opened..BUT for unlimited members ONLY...no hand wipes etc...should of allowed them to stay open, there was no danger of employee interaction with public...all automated.

joe d., like every action Il Douche has taken in this mess that he is largely responsible for, the closing decision was poorly thought out. Hell, it wasn’t thought through at all!! Like everything in this mess it was all about the press release. People in politics, like him, who have no real record of accomplishment think the press release is the goal.

now that more data is coming out and we saw how the ships that Trump sent weren't utilized etc.... It's time to start letting people work. Take precautions but get back to work.

Want proof that, in the eyes of Il Douche the Coronavirus thing is all about press releases, Il Douche had a press conference today to announce that he’s gonna have a press conference tomorrow to issue his Papal decision on the schools. Meanwhile 18,000 New Yorkers have died.

Elon Musk has threatened to move his headquarters & even his manufacturing facilities out of California if he’s not allowed to reopen. Wonder when he’s gonna threaten to remove all his jobs from Riverbend. Oh, wait...he never had any jobs at Riverbend. Ha, ha, hee, hee, ho, ho.
