    Buffalo schools closing

The Buffalo schools are closing until April 20. Given the level of daily attendance how will anyone know.

Why weren't things like this done with other "outbreaks" of viruses over the last 20 years?

The taxpayers will....think deeper about the extraordinary, but essential services that will now be provided...45000 meals per day, delivered to students homes and pick up points...But, my question...why cant the parent(s) provide their childrens' meals at their own expense??
I am sure that with HEAP, SOCIAL SERVICES cash allotments, Food Stamps, Food Pantry etc...why cant the parent provide their own children with a hot meal?

Could be they are so living from check to check they can't. Good question though.

Go back further to 35 years ago when the AIDS problem arose. It’s a disease with no known cure that is universally fatal though it’s progress can be arrested through the use of incredibly expensive drug cocktails. Rather than taking the reasonable step of quarantining victims it was decided that the victims be provided with special protections that allowed them into the greater community without any warning to the community.

Ya think? So far the death rate in NYS is 4/10’s of a percent and everyone who died had some underlying contributory condition or was elderly. Who in the name of heaven decided that the NBA should be driving the agenda on this. After international soccer it’s probably the sleaziest sports organization on Earth.

WNY, I’m not a virus expert but I can compute a percentage. Of the 62 counties in NYS 20 have an outbreak. There are about 750 confirmed cases in NYS as I write this. But let’s assume that the number is 100 times higher. That’s 5/10’s of a percent of New Yorkers.

Have you guys looked at some of the photos people are posting from restaurants?

This is supposed to be the red lobster at McKinley a couple of hours ago.

Yesterday we went to Texas Roadhouse on Union. It wasn't super busy but there were tables filled. They are putting peanuts in bags versus giving that small bucket of peanuts. I survived. Washed my hands afterwards like you should anyways.

The economic impact is going to far exceed anything from the actual illness. Businesses will go out of business, people will lose their jobs after having to stay home due to schools closing for a month.

When this is all done and over with I’d like to see the stats of how many people died of flu vs suicides or stress related deaths.
