The reason for asking is because I was ridiculed by someone for believing in Satan. I noticed the 'Do you believe in God' thread has been popular, so I wanted to read what peoples take on the Devil is. I think everything has an opposite. If there's someone to whisper in one ear, there must be someone to whisper into the other. Right?

It's just so much safer to believe things, than to not believe in them.

I mean who wants to get to the pearly gates and have God say "You didn't really believe in me, did you?"

So, yeah I believe in the devil. I believe in God, too. May as well.

Why? What about babies that die at birth? They were alive, yet they had no chance to believe in anything?

My answer is the same with the other thread.

    NO

Although I believe in a "Creator," or God, its just too much of a stretch of the imagination to believe in ANY KIND OF DEVIL, Satan, Lucifer, Morningstar, St. Nick, Azmodeous, Beazulbub, Mephistopholes-Whoever! Whatever!!

Since I don't believe in the Devil, I don't believe in Demons (despite DOCUMENTED cases of "Demonic possession!)

I think that the "Devil" is just another "Boogeyman" to keep the religious faithful in line, as are the Devil's demons and Hell.

The subject of Satan, Demons and Hell HAS INSPIRED MANY AWESOME MOVIES, JOKES, ROCK MUSIC, CLASSIC LITERATURE ect

And being the egotistical race we are, Humans LOVE to "anthropomorphize" everything we see/hear and ascribe the devil as having "Human form" (usually).

Why MUST God looks like a Human?

Have to go now and draw my pentagram, buy a new copy of the Necromocom and I'm fresh out of goats!

See? The Devil CAN be funny!! Just ask Dick Cheney!!!

Maybe the Devil is a WOMAN! Take a CLOSE look at Ann Coulter and Hillary!

It might have something to do with the Bible saying he does.

The Devil doesn't want anyone to believe in him. It makes his job a lot easier that way.

To believe or not to believe

I personally struggle with the existance of a "devil" or whatever you call him,her or it.

My take on this....the devil is a symbol of the evil that exists in the world which is man-made.

The idea of the Devil has been created in the bible, which is a best selling book. As in every best seller there is a hero and a villain.
