Well this is some good news

Cheektowaga State of the Town deemed strong, evolving

The state of the town is strong with several new initiatives on the horizon, Cheektowaga Supervisor Diane Benczkowski announced at the Feb. 7 State of the Town address.

One of the first priorities Benczkowski mentioned was how the town has addressed neighborhood and housing issues.

“Our town has reduced the number of abandoned zombie homes from 545 to 198 at the end of 2019,” Benczkowski said at a Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting. “I’m honored to announce that Habitat for Humanity has been part of over $1 million of rehab work in Cheektowaga. We also are looking into exciting new projects in the Pine Hill neighborhood to put people in homes and get those properties back on the tax rolls.”
