Statement on Small Fire at Buffalo Zoo

Statement on Small Fire at Buffalo Zoo Buffalo, N.Y. – At approximately 5:20 pm our on-site security team reported a small outdoor fire in the former outdoor habitat for the elephants and immediately called 911. Buffalo City Fire responded to the call and was able to quickly extinguish the fire. We are relieved to report there was no harm to any animals or team members. The cause of the fire appears to be due to minor demolition work that was taking place earlier today. Restoration of the area will begin soon and the Zoo will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, February 18, 2020 with normal hours of 10 am to 4 pm. We have no further information to share at this time. Thank you to our first responders for quickly resolving this situation and keeping us safe.
