The future of medicine is decidedly female.

For the first time ever, women are now the majority of all students enrolled in medical degree programs in U.S. medical schools, according to data released last month by The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Women accounted for 50.5% of student enrollment in 2019, the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit noted.
