After holding a public hearing on the petition by condominium homeowners, the town will be voting on the following resolution Monday evening.

Amend V&T Ordinance Re: Stop Intersections Designated Private Roadways Courtyards at Pleasant Meadows Condominiums [Ordinance: V&T Stop Intersections]

Chapter 46-8 of the Vehicle and Traffic Ordinance entitled Stop Intersections designated on private roadways is hereby amended by adding 21 stop signs in accordance with the law. (State Law)

Hopefully, this is just a resolution that changes the code to allow the town to place stop signs at private road intersections without cost to the taxpayer.

Not covered in the language of the resolution, but discussed at the public hearing:

If the resolution is approved will this open the door to like consideration from all other residential and commercial entities with private roads to petition for same signage installation.

Who pays for the signs and their installation? Hopefully not the taxpayer – especially those living private homes and in like condominiums that receive no Condominium Law 339-y tax breaks.

Petitioners at the public hearing also addressed the need for police presence to apprehend speed and sign violators. Hopefully that request has been dropped from consideration as police presence priority lies elsewhere and there would be a need for more police and the need for higher taxes.

Yes, these are taxpayers also; ½ taxpayers, that is.
