Who was paid EXTRA to work on the budget???

It's been said that D Carroll who works in the controllers office was paid $12,000 extra to work on the budget. She had some sort of agreement with Satish Mohan to get paid for this. Why is the controller approving this and why is the board allowing it? Did they cut the controllers pay since it was something that all previous town controllers had as a job duty? Why would a union employee get paid extra for this? Caroll bashes the controller to the board every chance she gets....seems that she wants the job!!!!

    Carroll

She was the only one who knew how to put a budget together. She had Satish by the short hairs. The new Finance Directer came from Buffalo as an auditor. That's a far cry from a Controller. When it came time to present the budget to the TB it was Carroll who stood up representing the finance office. What kind of a deal he offered her I don't know but you can be sure it was a deal.

I can't believe they hired someone who couldn't do the budget. Caroll wasn't the only one working on the budget in that office. She was just the only one getting paid $12,000 over her already $65,000 salary. She also sued the Town and threatened some board members. She helped Woodward in her campaign by handing out flyers at the Audubon Golf Center on Town Time.

Do you have facts to back up these statements? I don't think that Mrs Carrol makes that salary. Isn't she an accountant supervisor like the other woman who almost lost her job when they demoted Carrol? Maybe she used to make that much in her previous title. So she made 12K.... big deal. How many hours did she work to earn that? Didn't they pay the accountant who filled in after Cilano $150.00 pr hr OT $225. pr hr? Why didn't they spread the OT around? Isn't it because she is the only one in that department who knows how to do the budget? Did you ever think that she was told to do it and had no choice? Did anyone else in that office volunteer to do it? What would have happened if she refused to do it? What if she worked according to her job description? Would we have had a budget? Please post a reply with answers to the above.

How much overtime was earned by people in other departments during the storm in October who have GED's instead of CPAs?

Gee, I heard that story about the Audubon Golf course too but when I heard it she was on her own time, was not alone and was not working for Woodward. I heard she was there with Schratz. But that was all gossip so I wouldn't put much faith in either version.

When do you think we'll hear about the "deal" because the last I heard they still have her sitting in a little reception box right next to the office door. The only "deal" that was made there seems to be the one given to the "do nothing" controller. What a sweetheart deal he has and no one seems to be calling him to task.

Go figure...she completes the job and is criticized. He dodges the responsibility and gets a pass.

She was paid $12,000 EXY+TRA. That means she was paid her regualar salary, PLUS OT, PLUS THE EXTRA!!! That comes to probably $60 per hour. Why should that be okay because she worked on the budget? She could have said NO if she was told to just like she always does. She sits at her desk half of the time making calls on her cell phones to her lawyer and kids!!! Don't be fooled by her. She has said no to working on the cell phones and the credit cards and nobody seems to mind. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. SHE NEEDS TO GO!!!!!

Darlene Carroll is the most knowlegeable person in the Finance department - by far. All the department heads and Board members know it. The UNION would not allow her to work out of job title (i.e., do the budget) without being compensated for it. Nor should she. She worked very hard on that budget and was at Satish's beck and call. Sher has been treated shabbily by the Town and earns every dime she makes. The comptroller, on the other hand, is a lazy individual who does not have the knowledge to do his own job. Now they are talking about creating 2 separate jobs - finance director and comptroller - and he is conniving so that he can devise his own job description and leave all the real work to the finance director.

Don't worry about it! Satish used the money he saved on road salt.

    Carroll

I really don't know whether she got paid extra or not but if Satish got her for 12Gs, he got a bargain. The last jerk he had he was paying something like $300. an hour. You can always find out. That is the expenditure of public funds and as such is releasable under FOIL.

She was paid the rate per hour that is assigned to the job title under which this is supposed to be done. (The comptroller - who STILL doen't know how to do the budget.) The union contract requires that employees working out of job title, whch she was, be paid the higher rate.

You sound like Darlene Carrol! I agree with Res, she needs to go! Clean house & start with the comptroller & his department. If a finance director is need, hire a competent one!

    Remember

When Satish came into office, he tried to get rid of Maureen Cilano but when he couldn't get anyone to replace her, he extended her employment for two years. Maureen got tired of being jerked around so she went out and got a job with Evans Bank. Then Satish was really in a bind. He got three applicants but then the only one qualified took a look at the Amherst zoo and backed out. Now the guy he's got in there was an auditor in Buffalo - you know- the city with the control board. So he's stuck with this pencil pusher. He needs Darlene in the worst way. Don't forget how she got screwed by the TB. When the dust settled she lost about $20gs. She doesn't take that stuff lightly. Don't know if she is still suing the town but she has won one suit already.
You just can't make this stuff up.

D Caroll didn't win the lawsuit. The attorney for the town said it was cheaper to just settle it with her. The EEOC said that she had no valid basis for a claim and dismissed it. She is just one of those people that thinks everyone owes her. There are others out there that have been told the same thing by her....oh poor poor D Caroll. She is a single mom and needs the money!!! Well there are many of us working hard out there and making less to do more than her!!!

You seem to be very knowledgeable about the comings and goings of the finance department. Why don't you just go in and tell the new comptroller that other people in the office can do everything that Caroll does. Maybe then he can spread the workload around the other staff while he's in training. This would eliminate OT and take advantage of the other many talented people working there. They should all get a chance to work with Mohan and go before the TB to answer questions. Then Carrol won't be in the limelight.
