Libertarians finally gained automatic ballot access in New York state last year, but you won’t see any Libertarians on the ballot for Erie County races this November.

The Erie County Board of Elections invalidated the entire party line’s certificates of nomination earlier this month, saying there were deficiencies on the forms that violate state election law.
What were the list of deficiencies Mark.

Left rather ambiguous in the story Res.

My best understanding is that the petitions were initally FUBAR, Mohr pointed the unspecified problems out and when re-submitted, they were still screwed-up.

I am in no authoritative position to judge, but the impression I have is that Mohr was being rather picayune about it.

In that regard, rumor, and I emphasize rumor has it, that the decision may be payback for non-support of a candidate(s) during the pre-general election campaign time, but that is not my final opinion, and it appears to be just "street talk" at this point in time.

It is rather interesting that the Libertarian line will effect nearly 18 cross-endorsed Republican candidates, including Dixon and Todaro. Ergo, not much is at stake with those two races, just the Erie County Executive and control of the Erie County Legislature
