Food Stamps and Why Trump is going to win again...

So the USDA is proposing to Close SNAP Automatic Eligibility Loophole that allows people who are worth millions to collect food stamps. How is this done? Well, it's because they are allowed to look at only income and not assets. So someone could have $500k in the bank but only make $8,000 a year and qualify.

Now of course the Progressive idiots at ThinkProgress frame this as 'Trump is kicking 3 million more people off food stamps for the stupidest possible reason' and 'Twenty-eight states, the District of Columbia, and the territorial governments of Guam and the Virgin Islands have adopted the modest expansion of income limits BBCE allows. The 20-year-old rules also allow states to suspend the harsh “asset tests” in federal law that deny SNAP to any recipient who manages to accumulate roughly $2,000 in personal savings.'

But to the rest of the people who don't have their head up their ass....looking at a program and saying hey...if you have lots of money you don't need public assistance...is basic common sense.

I just can't understand why we have groups that think giving way other people's money is the answer to everything.

I just can't grasp why these idiots think like this.

They should welcome removing people of means from the ranks as it gives them the opportunity to say they do take waste and bloat seriously. They should say the system works. After all, Trump is not going after the funding. He is going after people who shouldn't qualify. Huge difference there.

I mean if this is the hill they want to die on. What the left does not seem to grasp is that people are growing tired. Yes, they are tired of Trump and his antics. But they are also tired of example after example of waste and then the sheer audacity in others trying to lie about it.

Trump is trying to bring our illegal immigration and the cost of a socialist govt enhanced by democrats into perspective...yes his methods etc are very questionable...a personality trait he will never be rid of. Past administrations have given away the bank...hard earned taxpayers money to social programs that discourage those to work..because they can live equally as well receiveing their handout...NAFTA was the last nail in the coffin ..when our jobs went overseas, along with sacred technology that are now being used against us in a competitive nature, useng slave and substandard wages that foreign govts exploit. The pendulum has swung so far that bringing our country back to the superior leadership in mfg and technology is shocking to those who have grown complacent and accepting things as they are. Strong leadership is something that no candidate in the recent past(career politicians) has shown.
There are growing pains, questionable methods and shock to our socialist minded activists ...but more time and taxpayer money has been spent on disabling , discrediting Trump than trying to fix whats wrong with our policies...all in the face of the democrats trying to save their own a$$es.

Kicking 3 million people off food stamps is a good start but better would be eliminating this ripoff program completely. Go to any grocery store and watch some 400 pound blimp and her 5 obese future diabetic kiddies with their grocery cart full of ice cream candy and cookies pay half the bill with food stamps. And Leftie, come on...you can’t grasp why these idiots are against reform? Because they’re idiots!!

There are people who really do need food stamps. Many elderly that I know are really living check to check because of health issues. Many of these people do not have family to rely on. They lead good lives and didn't make stupid decisions along the way. I do see where you are both coming from but I'm just saying that there is a true need.

The question is how do you cut the abuse and draw the line on how it's spent.

If it was me I'd rather have a store setup specifically for those people who require assistance. This way you wouldn't have to worry about people spending their food allowance on items they really shouldn't be. I don't do enough shopping to say I see the abuse that you two see.

I know there is abuse because I know people who I have dealt with over the years that worked for social services. They personally tell me there is abuse and they say they don't like it but it is what it is.

WNY, you and I usually agree but not on this one. No one needed food stamps until the Democratic Totalitarians created them as a tool to regain control of the black population. Life is hard and often unfair. I’ve had elderly in my own family who lived check to check. Hell, there were points in my life where my family and I lived paycheck to paycheck. That, supposedly, is the reason for the existence of outfits like Catholic Charities. Unfortunately, that organization has given up its charitable role and now views its goal as working with Democratic Totalitarians to fatten the welfare rolls with illegal aliens and contributing to Il Douche’s re-election campaign.

I only shop there when the old girl insists because of some coupon deal. But I see the same thing at Wegmans.

I did say I see where you are coming from. From personal experience I have seen people who really can't take care of themselves by no fault of their own. That is all I'm saying.

I also don't agree at all of importing refugees and basically inviting people to illegally enter the USA a good thing. Specially when you place those people into cities that already have economic issues. Take care of your own and once they are fine then think about adding more but not until then.

    Hitting home in Buffalo NY

Trump proposal would slash food stamps for nearly 6,000 WNYers

WASHINGTON – At least 5,700 food stamp recipients in metro Buffalo would lose their benefits under a Trump administration proposal aimed at cutting fraud and waste from the program.

“Some states are taking advantage of loopholes that allow people to receive the benefits who would otherwise not qualify and for which they are not entitled,” Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said in explaining the proposal to reporters late last month.

But according to those who work with the poor in Western New York, those who would lose their food aid aren't fraudsters or wastrels.

"This is just really make it very hard for working families, seniors, people with disabilities," said Catherine Shick, communications director at FeedMore WNY, which runs Buffalo's food bank and Meals on Wheels program. "It would really make it so much more difficult for them to access the critical nutrition and food that they need."

Well this is a good thing.

But according to those who work with the poor in Western New York, those who would lose their food aid aren't fraudsters or wastrels.
Well then I assume those people will not lose the benefit. Correct?

"It would really make it so much more difficult for them to access the critical nutrition and food that they need."
How so if they weren't entitled to the benefit to begin with?

It is all a part of the game.

The problem with people saying "These are not wealthy people...Instead they are the working poor, most of them families with young children to feed who work at one or more low-wage jobs" is that when the average joe sees someone check out at the grocery store with food stamps and then load up their late model SUV with the groceries they question the entire system.

That's what the left does not seem to grasp. They can lie all want in the press but the corruption is out in the daylight. It's in the face of people who work their ass off and pay taxes. People are just are not buying it anymore and the number of people who 'check out' grow each and every day.

What they should said is: Our goal is to provide food for those most in need. We understand there are those who want to fraudulently take advantage of the system and we work hard every day to root those out and only provide benefits for those in need.

Of course this would also be a lie because the more people in the system the more secure the job is for those processing the checks. But at least with this lie they would not look as bad.
