Maybe Cheektowaga should at least look into chapter 9 bankruptcy. It worked for Detroit to get serious CBA changes.....https://www.lowenstein.com/media/309...7DwedCchzbZzF4

That would only work if the town was in serious financial straits and unable to pay it’s bills, we’re just not. Thank God A Better Cheektowaga lost last month, we’d be in big trouble if that group of people got in power and started giving their buddies everything they wanted on the financial end. Obviously there have been some small tax increases but it’s better that we have those than be irresponsible with reserve funds, we can’t fix binding arbitration agreements either but it’s pretty clear that the TCEA’s strategy has been a failure and what they’re fighting for doesn’t really represent their members’ interests either.

Perhaps you’re looking at this in a negative way instead of a positive. Apparently, the amount of bonding the town is doing is favorable in the eyes of Moody’s rating system if the town continues receiving the Aa2 bond rating.

Why wouldn’t the town finance capital projects instead of paying cash for everything? It spreads the burden out to the resident who lives in a house now who benefits from the road or sewer repair and also to the future new owner when the house is sold and the town is still paying off the debt. Why should us current homeowners hold the entire financial burden instead of spreading it out?
You should not borrow for things that don't outlast the term of the payments. Having proper priorities is important. Frankly I'm surprised that throughout "government" salaries continually increase based time only. Economic conditions are not taken into account along with other factors.

My prime example is the $2mil the town bonds EVERY year for milling and resurfacing of town roads, first and for most in this day and age $2mil is no longer a amount high enough to consider bonding in a town the size of Cheektowaga...but the town does this for 15yrs, that resurfacing in NOT going to last 15yrs.
So we the taxpayers pay $2mil in interest on bonds each and every year so we can bond $2mil for road repair that will not out last the length of the bond.
IMO we should not bond $2mil, the money is in the reserves, if we really HAVE to bond it, it should only be for 5yrs. (less interest paid) but I think the town employees may be investing in these Municipal bonds and that is the true motivation for all the bonding the town does because it really is NOT in the best interest of the taxpayers to push OUR debt onto the next generation!!!
I few things here for you cry babies about the town health care and bennies I guess you picked the wrong career. NFTA and the NYDOT are all hiring. GPS I believe this is the second time it was upgraded and the cost is not needed. does fish fry mark have one in his take home car? does Zack and the captains have it in their take home cars?
If your talking about pay and OT the number one dept is the PD thats killing the town budget.
God must love stupid people; He made so many
Dealing with pulling a kid hanging from a ceiling fan, a wife after they got the sh*t beat of our her by a drunk husband, or a OD is a lot different than finning in pot holes or mowing lawns. That's why there is a pay difference dummy.
As someone who worked summers for a town, the waste of full-time townies is almost comical. It's a running joke on how they milk the clock. That's why you need GPS for them. It's to babysit donutins on the towns dime. Pretty sure you're one of them. You're too stupid to be anything else.
