Three ballot lines are up for grabs in Lancaster town clerk primaries. The supervisor’s post and two board seats will also be contested Tuesday.
Incumbent Clerk Diane M. Terranova, 61, a Democrat, is seeking the Democratic, Republican and Conservative lines. She was endorsed by the Lancaster Conservative and Republican committees, respectively, after she failed to receive the Democratic endorsement.
Anne V. Desiderio, 54, a Republican, will face off against Terranova for the Republican line. Desiderio is supported by the state committee of the Independence Party.
Cynthia A. Maciejewski, 50, will face off against Terranova for the Democratic line. Maciejewski worked 21 years as a clerk in the Lancaster Building and Zoning Department. Maciejewski received the Democratic and Working Families endorsements.
Donald Biondo, 58, and Brian E. Sabatino, 44, along with Terranova, are seeking to win the Conservative primary for town clerk.
“The clerk is the pulse of the town,” said Deborah Lemaster, who chairs the Lancaster Conservative Party. “Diane handed out no jobs, and she kept the people who were in because they know the job. Diane has experience balancing the books and handling a lot of money.”
Terranova received an A+ in a town audit conducted by the accounting firm of Drescher & Malecki.
“I have responded to the residents’ request for more hours outside of the normal business hours of Town Hall and have also extended hours in the tax office,” Terranova said. “I am in the process of applying for a state grant for a Records Disaster Management Plan because I want to be proactive in safeguarding town records.”
Maciejewski looks to expand the hours of the town clerk’s office, initiate an online “Community Billboard” and enhance services available online.
“Customer service is important whether it’s helping residents navigate zoning or accepting commercial permit fees,” Maciejewski said. “I’d like to expand online services being offered, and maybe have a computer in the front office.”
Maciejewski worked in the business sector managing national retail chains including Wilsons Leather and Bombay Company.
Desiderio worked for 25 years in the health care industry as a patient access representative.
“As a lifelong Republican, I stand for the principles of delivering the highest quality services in a friendly, efficient and effective manner,” Desiderio said in a prepared statement. “I believe in the Republican refrain that someone with business experience should administer the town’s business office.”
Supervisor Johanna M. Coleman is not running for re-election. There will be two primaries for that post.
Dawn C. Gaczewski, 53, a Lancaster Village Board member, will run in the Conservative and Independence primaries. She is endorsed by the Lancaster Republican and Conservative committees.
She will face Martin A. Szczublewski, 49, and Frank Caparaso, 77, in the Conservative primary.
Gaczewski faces Joseph A. Bish in the Independence primary for the supervisor post.
The Conservative primary for two town board seats features six candidates, including Republicans Bruce E. Stutz, 51, and Robert E. Leary, who received the Conservative Party endorsement. The other four running are Joseph M. Karosik, 64; Jared J. Maciejewski, 19; Philip A. Caparaso, 26; and Scott M. Pease, 47.
BTW, Gaczewski is a Lancaster Town Council Member, not a VOL trustee.

This is pretty much a straight-down-the-middle story, something akin to an "Order of Battle" without any reference to the war, or why the war is being fought.
