What happened to food donated to CAO for kids' meals?

What happened to food donated to CAO for kids' meals?

Children enrolled in Community Action Organization's after-school and summer programs are typically handed simple items for their meals: yogurt, cereal bars or granola bars. Then a staff member started ordering more substantial fare: whole chickens, bacon and vegetables, with onions and potatoes arriving in 50-pound bags.

The change prompted an internal audit at the anti-poverty agency. The findings: Hundreds of pounds of food, most of it donated, never reached the children. It either spoiled, was given away, went missing or was misused when eaten by employees or offered for fundraisers.

Children in a summer camp program were asked if they'd been served roasted chicken. No, they said. What about chicken fajita strips? No, they answered. Potatoes? No.

The 2016 audit, conducted by a CAO employee, focused on one staff member who ordered too much poultry and produce from the Food Bank of Western New York.

Odd that people at the location wouldn't close the freezer door

Cassandra may have used some chicken fajitas for cooking class and
everything else was located inside of the freezer and one day it was left open
    and everything spoiled.

She said that some of the
bacon was used to make breakfast everyday for the YSD Staff during their
summer camp training and the rest went bad when the freezer was left open
as well as the chicken leg quarters.

Just keep handing stuff to people, they don’t care what happens to it, they didn’t work to provide it. Do you leave the freezer door open at home after you go to the store and buy groceries with your hard earned money?

It's like L. Nathan Hare is a character from the HBO series The Wire. Same with Brown. The absolute corruption that is allowed in Buffalo is freaking comical. All because people are scared of being called a racist.

not thrilled to find out the food bank provides food to other organizations, I thought they were just used by needy individuals/families.
might have to rethink my donations

Leftie, Buffalo has been controlled by the Democratic Totalitarian Party for 60 years and it has been going downhill without letup ever since. I was on the road a week or so ago, with stops in central Pa, northern Virginia, Delaware and the immediate Philadelphia area. The difference is stark. I recommend that western New Yorkers get out of town more often and I don’t mean flying to Sarasota, Tampa, yada yada to get away for a couple of weeks in a January. Get in the car and drive so that one can become more immersed in the communities one passes through. Do that and one really recognizes the platter of **** that the local media here pedal as “progress”.
