If it's town wide and everyone's assessment increases but the budget stays the same our property taxes won't change much. It's when the budget increases more money is needed. Correct?

    Joe said this also

    Joe
Do your historical research Tony about your guy and the slimy Roy Cohn the former mob lawyer! You know Tony the guy that ultimately was disbarred! You know Tony the guy that was Joe McCarthy's right hand man. Yes Tony that Joe McCarthy who was censured by his own U.S. Senate colleagues by a vote of 67-22, a punishment almost unheard of. My point to you Tony is this, instead of constantly criticizing others look in the mirror or better yet as I previously stated grow a set and run Tony! Your the only perfect individual that has ever lived Tony. In the mean time Tony cheer your hero on drain the swamp, drain the swamp right Tony!
This is how I look at it.

Let's consider all elected official slime balls.

IF that is the case lets make sure it is the slime ball that benefits us the most. The slime ball we want in office is our slime ball not theirs

I'm just tired of this political BS. I don't care what dreams these elected officials have. Go take your BS to some other state in the USA.

WNY, any changes should be minimal if it’s a uniform reassessment and the levy doesn’t change much. The rate/thousand might actually drop.

Seems to me Joe's rant speaks for itself.

It projects the kind of awfulness that should never be allowed in the leadership of any political institution in a civilized society.

Angry, unhinged, simply a cry from someone who looks at himself as powerless, even though he has some kind of title.

    Sad. But not surprising.

Any reasonable person reading Joe's rant would dismiss him as just another clown tilting at windmills. https://www.google.com/search?tbm=is...&bih=795&dpr=1

    GALLO 'SWAMPED' WITH HYPOCRISY

And isn't it oh so accurate and true that Frank Max, Ray Jablonski, Jimmy Rogowski and Joe Gallo would restore a swamp-like culture in the leadership of Cheektowaga with the election of Jablonski as town supervisor come election day ?????

The 'three amigos' Max, Gallo and Rogowski in charge of Cheektowaga is the definition of SWAMP!

So, does that make Ray Jablonski their Swamp Creature ??

    I believe it does.

This was Gallo's remarks regarding his 2019 endorsed candidate for Lancaster supervisor
from 4 years ago when she was running for town council. Apparently, her votes of 'YES'
for the Tax Override law was considered as a Conservative move

Unfortunately, on Primary night, the Democrats carefully orchestrated a campaign to steal the Conservative line from Joe Brainard and give it to their endorsed Democrat candidate Dawn Gaczewski. Their insincere and dishonest effort was successful and therefore her name will appear on our line on Election Day. I am writing to let you know that she is not one of us. She is running for office with the endorsement of the Ultra Liberal Working Families Party and the Women’s TAP Fund (www.tapfund.com/tapfund/News%26). Her backers push a pro-abortion agenda that violates the sanctity of life. Economically, they support socialist policies that would bankrupt small businesses with a living wage, and drown property tax owners in bills to fund never ending social programs.

To be frank, we can’t afford a Town Council with Dawn Gaczewski serving on it, and that is why we didn’t endorse her in the first place. As Conservatives, we want a government that spends and taxes less and understands that the “government” doesn’t have a dollar that they haven’t taken from those they are there to serve. We don’t just want that, I think we deserve it, and can have it.

Campaigns announced by supervisor, clerk, highway supervisor candidates

Three individuals announced their intentions to run for local offices during a conference held Monday evening in front of Town Hall.

Ray Jablonski announced his candidacy for the position of supervisor; Margaret Brezowski announced her candidacy for town clerk; and Dean Szymkowiak announced his intention to run for highway superintendent.

In the Our Cheektowaga Group I saw this comment.

    Margaret is a great choice!
Personally along with 1000's of other people we don't know anything about Margaret.

    I made this comment

    Tony
Why? Why should we vote for Margaret versus who she is running against?
    The response

she is dedicated to Cheektowaga and comes from a great family
That is a non answer. What does that have to do with the position of being town clerk?

    So I responded again

    Tony
    What are her qualifications?
Maybe I need to be more detailed for what I'm asking

Little more detail on their next response.

worked for the town in that department and is an HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY woman. To me this is primary qualification! Lived in town all her life. Father worked for town.
Still sort of a non answer.

Worked for the town in that department doing what?

Being honest and Trustworthy doesn't mean someone is qualified running the town's clerk department. Those are good traits but do you pick your doctor because they are honest and trustworthy or because they are a good doctor?

Father worked for the town is irrelevant as is lived in town all their life.

    Here is my final response

    Tony
80% or more of town resident have no clue who these people are. What you should say is " Margaret has worked in the Clerks office for the last (fill in the blank years) as (fill in the blank). Over the last number of years Margaret worked on updating the town's tax system.Currently she is the town's Deputy Town Clerk".
Does anyone know if the current Town Clerk will endorse Margaret for the spot?

As a Property owner and taxpayer, I want to hear a candidate say and more so see candidates put these words into action.

"If elected I will work diligently for the taxpayers. I promise to reduce ALL spending and streamline any departments that fall under my oversight."

“We can’t waste tax dollars anymore,” said Jablonski during the press conference. “I won’t create jobs just to help myself. If we need jobs it’s going to be for everyone, not for certain individuals.”
Waste is not what is increasing our budget which in turn increases our property taxes.

Dan what have you witnessed that increases our budget the most? Is is waste?

"Waste" is easily many millions per year and it includes discretionary spending and IMO the $2mil the town spends on bond interest every single year but it is not 2/3 of the budget. That would be CBA's that the unions have.

    Repeat I think

    "The Bee
The event was lead by James Rogowski, former member of the Cheektowaga Town Board, who spoke at the event introducing and endorsing each of the three candidates."

Perhaps we are looking at this the wrong way. Seeing Jim Rogowski said we are heading for a financial crisis he may be mentoring both Ray and Dean to stop the crisis. Then again wasn't Jim on the board like 12 to 16 year involved bringing our town to a financial crisis? For the most part when issues did come up on why we are heading for a crisis we get the excuse "Our hands are tied". Well untie them.

    "The Bee
Rogowski said that the trio is interested in reducing spending in Cheektowaga and said he believes that one of residents’ primary concerns is what he referred to as wasteful spending."

I would like everyone to look up the word disingenuous. I'm pretty sure and I believe Dan from https://www.facebook.com/groups/786798011516293/ can verify. The major reason our budget has been increasing are labor contracts not because wasteful spending is increasing. Wasteful spending isn't a good thing but let's "put things" into context. We don't have a budget line called "money to waste" that increases each year. Correct?

    "The Bee
“We can’t waste tax dollars anymore,” said Jablonski during the press conference. “I won’t create jobs just to help myself. If we need jobs it’s going to be for everyone, not for certain individuals.”

I would like to hear Mr Jablonski's opinion of the top 5 line items that are a waste of tax dollars and point out how that budget line item grows every year. He made the statement. I don't want to hear "We are going to switch to "Staples" and stop wasting money on paper clips and scotch tape.

We are going to hear "The past administration bought a hovercraft!!!! $70k of waste!!".... Correct me if I am wrong. Wasn't that grant given to the town or was an expenditure from property tax revenue? Hopefully the town learned from that and it won't happen again.

    "The Bee
Jablonski also said he hopes to make improvements in the Recreation Department if elected."

As in? What improvements? What are the first 5 things he feels need improvements? Let's hear it now instead of after everyone votes.

    "The Bee
Brezowski is the current deputy town clerk and Rogowski pointed out that she is a lifelong Cheektowaga resident.
“I am willing to go out of my way to assist all of the town residents,” she said. “If they have questions, I am willing to put forth the effort to get satisfactory answers for them.”
Brezowski noted her bachelor’s degree in sociology and associate’s degree in liberal studies as qualifications, as well as her hand in updating the town’s tax system.
“I plan to keep trying to strive to make this a smoother function here in the town clerk’s office and in the tax office.”

She's qualified seeing she has worked in the office for a long time. Has the past Town Clerk endorsed her for the position? I believe the past Town Clerk can give us her opinion seeing it would be in the property owners best interest to know. It would be like handing the torch to the next person.

This is just a general comment

I don't know why a degree in liberal studies or sociology was mentioned. Isn't the Town Clerk's position more management?

Any candidate that mentions "lifelong Cheektowaga resident" is irrelevant. Do you hire a plumber or a doctor based on how many years they lived in town?

The amount of "wasteful" spending has been reduced by many millions with the current supervisors Citizens Budget Advisory Committee recommendations.

The amount saved could be higher if the town board members would support ALL the recommendations the Supervisor puts in her budget.

The TB always adds spending and reduces the CBAC recommended savings in order to satisfy friends, family that work for the town, pet projects or other political nonsense.

The CBAC is probably the best thing this town has ever done to cut waste yet the TB mostly ignores its recommendations.

What did the CBAC consider "Wasteful" spending?

We did not label anything "wasteful", we just simply looked to reduce spending. For the 2019 budget we at first individually picked and chose how much to cut to each line. Ultimately we decided to cut the same percentage to ALL departments, we were told to leave what is cut up to the department heads.

The childish reason to reduce the same percentage from all dept. was so one dept would not say "you cut my budget more then another" I would of rather seen reductions to only those lines the numbers supported based on analyzing the past 5 years of ACTUAL budget numbers vs the adopted budget numbers.

How could anyone get by the chutzpah of Jimmy Rogowski endorsing anyone for any public office.

How could one accept such an endorsement?

Someone should ask Ray Jablonski if he plans to hire Jimmy Rogowski if he is elected.

    Talk about wasteful spending.

You can't disagree with WNYresident when he says Jimmy was on the town board for all those years and maybe he is responsible for the problems he sees coming and the ones Cheektowaga may have now. So, someone like that is the LAST person who should be telling people who they should vote for.

    Like I said, CHUTZPAH!

Ray Jablonski must be a real piece of work, folks.

    The Bee
“We can’t waste tax dollars anymore,” said Jablonski during the press conference. “I won’t create jobs just to help myself. If we need jobs it’s going to be for everyone, not for certain individuals.”
With Joe Gallo's involvement, Jimmy Rogowski's involvement, and with Frank Max's involvement, how could you take that statement seriously anyway or believe it would ever happen???

People have seen the records of Jimmy and Frank.
