Read the Full story in the Buffalo NewsJames P. Domagalski, who has guided the Erie County GOP to several high-profile victories during his four years as chairman, will resign his party post this week and run for the State Senate vacancy created by incumbent Dale M. Volker's decision not to seek re-election.
Domagalski, of Orchard Park, said he will make an official announcement Tuesday, followed by his resignation as party chairman on Wednesday. Several sources with knowledge of the situation say Nicholas A. Langworthy, an aide to Rep. Chris Lee, will succeed him as County Republican chairman.
Domagalski will face David J. DiPietro in the primary. DiPietro is the former East Aurora mayor and tea party activist who has already announced and scored some success with GOP organizations in the 59th District.
