Gillibrand tells Colbert she's forming presidential exploratory committee

New York Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced during a taping of Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" on Tuesday night that she has formed an exploratory committee for a 2020 presidential run.


Gillibrand, 52, who will be entering an increasingly crowded field of Democrats seeking to unseat President Trump, spoke largely in generalities as vowed to take on powerful "special interests" and work on behalf of children.

Gillibrand goes back on her word to New Yorkers in run for president

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Despite her promise to New York voters that she wouldn't, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is running for president.

She kicked off her campaign Wednesday more than four hours down the Thruway in Troy, New York.

"If you're asking me to make an absolutely pledge as to whether I'll be running for president, I'm not going to make that pledge."
