    Bob McCarthy: In Cheektowaga

Brian Nowak’s tattooed arms were wrapped around something titled “A Century of Wealth in America” a few days ago as he waited for a Politics Column interviewer.
A little light reading for the Tim Hortons on Walden Avenue.

But studying concepts like pay inequity and universal health care is what drives the 31-year-old Cheektowaga councilman. It’s why he is emerging as the local face of a Democratic Party faction that these days inches more and more leftward. The issues espoused by “democratic socialists” like Sen. Bernie Sanders or newly elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of Queens are his issues too, and they will also dominate the Democratic presidential primary discussion beginning to unfold.

    Sabre... Dan... Electric, Grump...

Read the article and give me your opinion. One question I have is why run for a local town board if you are not focused on running the actual town? Running efficient town services at a competitive price against other towns.

He seems to only care about running a socialist government. Anyone who risked their own savings and their own company and is now profitable is to give its profits to all the low hanging laborers. He wants everyone to make the same income and not have to work harder than the next person. Makes no sense.

It's almost like he's not focused on the job at hand. First year he's looking to just to the County Legislature. I get the feeling like he may be wasting the property owners time.

Thank goodness Nowak took a stance for the Wendt workers to organize their Union (I’m joking). I’m sure that is going to help keep the Wendt corporation to stay in Cheektowaga, a company assessed at over $2 million dollars and paying properties taxes in excess of $80 grand a year to the town, schools and county.
