    A total embarassment

Neighbors raise alarm on health and safety concerns with Buffalo public housing

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - More than a dozen residents of Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority properties raised the alarm on various health and safety concerns Tuesday at Buffalo City Hall.

"If a fire broke out, we would've died. We would've died," Ronald Lawson said. He lives at the LBJ Apartments where both elevators were out of service for multiple 1-to-2 hour periods this past weekend. "So what are we supposed to do? Just sit there like a bunch of fools?"

"This is the first time I ever felt trapped in the housing where I lived," Lisa Pearson, who also lives at LBJ, said. "We need a new elevator and we need it ASAP."

WNY, it’s not an excuse but the explanation is obvious and well established by history...the continuing, decades- long effort by the Democrats, especially white suburban liberal Dems, to regain and retain control of blacks after their outright ownership of blacks was ended by Abraham Lincoln and the Republicans in the Civil War.

IF the elevators are not supposed to be used during a fire how do the handicapped people who live in these buildings get out from the upper floors.

Why You Should NEVER Use an Elevator in a Fire
If you’ve ever seen those signs in office blocks, shopping centres and high-rise flats stating “In case of fire, DO NOT use the lift, use the stairs” you may have wondered exactly why that sign is there. Well, there are many reasons why you shouldn’t use the lift in a building that is fire, and they’re all related to keeping you alive and well. The first reason you should take the stairs rather than the lift is because the fire could very well short out the electrical system in the building, meaning that if you’re in the lift and you’re between floors you will most likely be stuck there. Within this brings all sorts of problems, primarily the fact that smoke could flood the lift shaft and you could suffocate because there won’t be any air for you to breathe. The fire could also spread to other floors and essentially engulf the lift, with you in it.

Can't you take them down the stairs using sheets or blankets to drag them on?

I don't know. If the majority of the apartment dwellers are disabled who would do the dragging?

Maybe it's time to stop these types of living units and let people rent apartments in the city versus creating public housing.

Or literally buy them double wide trailers and use vacant lots in the city.
