That is not your job - code of Ethics

    This was forwarded to me

“That is not your job,” Supervisor Diane Benczkowski told Mr. Treanor
It wasn't the town boards job to chime in on whether a privately owned business should unionize or not. If that company was dumping chemical waste that could be harmful to other property owners or lowering the quality of life of other town residents that would have been a different matter. In the end that wasn't your job as the saying goes.

“Did anybody here ask them to prepare a new code of ethics, because I didn’t,” Ms. Benczkowski
Why was a board of ethics created in the first place?

Why wasn't the town board responding to the board of ethics several letters?

Is there anything in the new code of ethics about political party officers/chairmen being in supervisory roles in our town?

I find that a conflict of interest and not in our town's best interest.

If I was on the town board we work on not allowing that. Why? Because decisions might be made that benefit a political party more than benefiting us property owners.

Is the new code of Ethics on our town website?

THis needs to be review by many of the property owners before it goes into effect. The last group of people you would want approving this is the group that is "supposed" to follow it.

    Read 9-4 Conflicts of interest

    (1) Act as attorney, agent, broker, employee, consultant or representative of or for any person in connection with any business dealing that a person has with the town.

    (3) Take or refrain from taking an action or agree to take or refrain from taking any action or induce or attempt to induce any other town officer or employee to take or refrain from taking any action on any matter before the Town in order to obtain a pecuniary or material benefit for:

Somehow we can apply this to a political party officer.

Cheektowaga Chronicle is told that many employees who should file a disclosure form are exempt because the supervisor and the town board did not want to upset the town’s union membership – many of whom are democratic committeemen and their support is needed during election time.

Someone told me that 90% of the committee people are town employees. See where this is a direct conflict having party officers on our town board or in supervisory positions?

Who told Jim that the supervisor and town board didn't want to upset the town's Union?

It really doesn't matter when you have a Board of Ethics that doesn't enforce the Rules set forth in their code of ethics?
