So Brian Nowak wants to jump ship

So Brian wants to jump ship

    https://cheektowagachronicle.com/bri...islature-seat/

I read the article and have some questions

"Reduced Property Taxes" How so? Did he tackle the main cause of yearly budget increases? At this point I know our school taxes have increased.

"workers who rights were infringed upon" What happened? I didn't catch wind of this. What rights were being infringed upon?

I see Tim Meyers wants to jump ship also.

I think if both would rather jump shop now they both should resign immediately. If you ran for town board you knew it was a 4 year term.

You made a commitment to be a town board member you should keep it for the length of the term.

Here is the article about the Wendt workers rights were infringed upon according to Nowak. ““For me, personally, any time working people organize to form a union, as an individual, I think it’s important to stand with those people and support their right to organize,” said Nowak. “In this case, this is a company that is in our town, and in this case, it wasn’t just the issue of the first contract, we’re talking about issues pertaining to safety and other issues besides that.”

    https://www.cheektowagabee.com/news/...d_workers.html

Also at the end of the article is mentions “Nowak was appointed to the position of Deputy Supervisor following the resignation of Councilman Tim Meyers on Aug. 14.

Meyers said it has been a longtime dream of his to run for the position of supervisor and that now, considering pursuing that dream, he felt that retaining the deputy supervisor position would not be fair to himself or the supervisor.

    That makes no sense.

If he is working in our best interest it wouldn't make any difference about "fairness" to himself or the supervisor.

I'm tired of the BS we have witnessed year after year. Never ends...

Brian did respond to my question.

Brian Nowak On the issue of workers’ rights, the Wendt corp has not, in my view, negotiated in good faith with the newly-formed and NLRB-certified union. It took half a dozen meetings to agree to bulletin board placement. Union-busting Attorneys have been hired to break the will of the new union. Working people have a right to organize
Personally I don't believe it's the town board's business how a local business operates as long as it's not effecting other properties/people in town. Quality of life issues and so on.

What can I read that states a group of people have a "right" to organize which is totally fine but then then that employer has to hire that group? That isn't fair to the employer. A small group of people can literally put a company out of business by causing costs to rise to the point of not being competitive. It's not like we haven't witness 1000's of businesses flee NYS because of operational cost. I guess the point I'm making is this issue is between the business and the employees and that Brian/town board has no business commenting on it as the "town board".

Of the group on the town board isn't Jerry the only one who physically ever ran a business with employees?

If I was Supervisor/board member and this topic came up it would have been an interesting work session and board meeting. Seeing he made a commitment to be a board member and wants to jump ship 11 months into the term he should just resign now. I'm serious. It's not like he's at the end of his term with a month to go.

Brian Nowak, please resign as a town board member immediately. Your interest is not in the town. Apparently you used the town for your own political agenda

There Certainly is more then the taxpayers fair share of town board members that DO NOT finish their terms for legal reason or move up the political ladder:
    Rogowski
    Markle
    Wroblewski?

    I know I'm missing some...please add.

Might be time to petition to go to a 5 member board considering
    this and the shrinking population.

You certainly are missing something. Weren't the 3 you mention forced to resign because of what they did? I don't think they resigned by choice.

He basically gave me non answers to a few questions I asked. I waited to get a few opinions of other people to see what they thought of the answers.

I’m serious, he should resign if he wants higher office, especially after just serving in his current position less than a year.

After a search....It was Angela Wozniak, she only served 2 years on the town board. While in the assembly, she was caught up in a scandal in her own office. She replaced Gabryszak in assembly, He was also caught up in a scandal of his own doings in Albany. http://news.wbfo.org/post/cheektowag...-assembly-seat

The majority of voters sure know how to pick them in this town.

So who else belongs on this list of those that never finished their elected term for the town of Cheektowaga for what ever reason?

Looks like Nowak is not going anywhere YET, But he has showed his hand and it is now apparent he will jump ship if the opportunity is presented to him as opposed to finishing out his term.
