I was just told and also saw this on WIVB

Cheektowaga Councilman ordered to vacate position

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) - A State Supreme Court Judge has ordered Cheektowaga councilman James Rogowski to vacate his position.
The decision was delivered following a hearing on Tuesday morning.
Earlier this month, Rogowski pleaded guilty to attempted criminal contempt for knowingly violating a no-contact order.

The SWAN SONG for Jim Rogowski. Called "BONES" performed by Lindsey Buckingham & Little Big Town. Go to youtube and watch video and listen to lyrics. Fitting for him.

I don't want to sound like a prick but you can't make this stuff up.

Judge rules Councilman Rogowski must vacate office

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A State Supreme Court judge has ruled that a Town of Cheektowaga councilman who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor must vacate his office.

Attorneys for both the Town of Cheektowaga and councilman Jim Rogowski were in Erie County Court Tuesday morning to decide his fate.

The town council filed a lawsuit to remove Rogowski from office when he refused to resign last week.

"We're claiming that they are targeting Mr. Rogowski because he's an outspoken, controversial, independent person and he doesn't go along with sort of the machine politics that Cheektowaga has been famous for since I was a kid," said James Ostrowski, Rogowski's attorney.
I can't believe Jim would even say that entire line of BS. One sentence mind you.

The people on our town board for the most are the definition of "machine politics that Cheektowaga has been famous for"

Ostrowski told 2 On Your Side's Ron Plans that he will file an appeal on behalf of Rogowski.
    Just step down.

    Don't gloat, just move on.

Frankly I'm surprised how quickly the ecdems and town board picked someone. I'm wonder if they interviewed anyone else at this point. Are the Reps/IP or anyone going to put a candidate up November?

Pilarski, Friedrich vie for Rogowski's seat in Cheektowaga
    By Jane Kwiatkowski Radlich

Two candidates were tapped in the race to fill a vacancy on the Cheektowaga Town Board created after a Supreme Court ruling ousted James P. Rogowski from his fourth term of service.

Doreen A. Friedrich, wife of former Cheektowaga Republican Party chairman Donald Friedrich, will run on the GOP line. Doreen Friedrich, 57, an employee of the M&T Bank call center, was unsuccessful in her bid to defeat Rogowski last year.

She will face Brian Pilarski, the Democratic endorsed candidate and president of the Maryvale School Board. Pilarski, who serves as executive director of the Seneca-Babcock Community Association, ran as a Republican in 2015 when he sought the Cheektowaga town clerk’s position. He is 41.

Rogowski pleaded guilty to attempted contempt in connection with a domestic violence incident. He is appealing the decision by Judge Mark Montour.

Republicans are never serious about running for office in Cheektowaga, they throw a candidate in on occasion , run a half assed campaign and always lose, same story every year

Hey Dan, in 2016, a Republican pulled 15,000 votes in a town board race and lost by roughly 2,000. Its on the BOE website. That means that quite a few democrats voted for that Republican, since there are approximately 10k republicans registered in town, and they definitely don’t all vote. Soooo, you tell me, is it possible for a Republican to win when a good effort like the aforementioned is put forth?

Anything is possible, in 2018 council election, Pilarski beat Friedrich approx 16,000 to 10,000. That was a pretty good overall turnout, but if the republicans could put forth a worthy candidate they might have a chance,
