Local helicopter tour pilot facing felony drug, weapon possession charges

LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - After a two-month-long investigation, 27-year-old FlyBuffaloNY founder Michael Campbell was arrested on drug and weapon charges.

FlyBuffaloNY, which operates out of the Lancaster Regional Airport, is a company that gives helicopter tours.

The arrest was made in the parking lot of retail store on Delaware Ave. in Buffalo on Saturday morning around 1:30 a.m.

Campbell was returning from a trip to New York City when he was stopped with 36-year-old Carmello Incorvaia.

In the vehicle, authorities say they found cash and two kilograms of cocaine.

After the stop, the Erie County Sheriff's Office and Buffalo police raided two residences in Buffalo, where they say they found a loaded .22 caliber revolver, cocaine, ketamine, cash and scales with cocaine residue.

In all of the raids, the total amount of cash seized was $16,000, according to deputies.

Campbell was charged with criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Incorvaia was charged with criminal possession of a narcotic - eight ounces or more, criminal possession of ketamine, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Both were remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.

Deputies say Campbell is the same man who, in 2013, successfully landed a helicopter in the Hudson River after it experienced engine failure. According to CBS New York, the five people on board all survived.
