    Streaming our Town Board meetings.

You know what might be interesting? We live stream out town board meetings and archive them.

I have been poking my nose on facebook in this group.

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/300521513802058/

    There are already 1227 members.

I think we could get more property owners involved come election time if they see what goes on at board meetings including seeing why our property taxes are higher than most surrounding areas.

    I made this comment

"How many people do you think would watch a live stream of our board meetings if they were available?"

And this was cool. Brian took the initiative and replyed

Brian Nowak I’m all for it, and have raised the issue at a board session. I welcome the public in helping make video-recorded meetings a reality for our town
Which towns locally live stream their board meetings?

Most Outrageous Government Board Meeting EVER!!!

Village of Carpentersville President Bill Sarto demands that his chief political opponent, Paul Humpher, be removed from office for being convicted of beating his wife, and due for sentencing. When trustees Ed Ritter, Kay Teeter, Judy Sigwalt, and Keith Hinz refuse to allow a motion for discusssing the issue -- Bill Sarto loses all control. He screams at his fellow board members, calls one a "convict", says another trustee's son commits adultery, and ends his speech with what other board members take as a death threat. Recorded April 1, 2008, at the Village of Carpentesville Hall. (NOT an April Fool's Joke!)

I brought this up a few years back, now with facebook live and unlimited data plans, this can be done at no extra cost to the tax payers as long as you have a volunteer to run the camera/phone.

West Seneca Started streaming theirs last month.

As long as it is within reason I'll buy the camera/tripod and what ever length cable it would need to reach the network jack in the room. Maybe union contracts won't let a non-employee walk over to the network jack and plug it in.

In the end if it's a waste of time maybe we shouldn't bother. I've been skimming through youtube and noticed many board meeting videos have very few views or live stream watchers.

Might be as easy to just video record the meeting and pop it up to youtube and don't bother live streaming it.

I have been watching mayor Brown's live streams when they pull the podium out. I don't think I ever seen more that 10 active viewers during the live stream.

Recording it puts it all on record. Currently public comments don't even appear in the minutes. Plus with video you can ALWAYS go back and say, so and so said this, here is the proof!

Whether or not they are viewed live is irrelevant.

Having the archive of the entire meeting is more important IMO.

I never realized that the assessor could just change the value of a property upon improvements without having a full town assessment. At 22:25

As long as it's legit I don't see a problem with it.

That is illegal, they are supposed to do the entire neighborhood according state law.

FYI: West Seneca has not reassessed in more then 20yrs and most properties were 20% over assessed 10yrs ago and still are.
