Property taxes are frozen for New York homeowners once they turn 65

Property taxes are frozen for New York homeowners once they turn 65

Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in the Senate Democratic Conference to roll out a comprehensive property tax relief plan that would help millions of New Yorkers who are overburdened by high property taxes. Part of that plan includes a bill I sponsor, which would ensure that property taxes are frozen for New York homeowners once they turn 65. While these New Yorkers, most of who are on fixed incomes, will continue to pay property taxes, this legislation will ensure that they will not be taxed out of their homes.

Exactly. The laws give small groups of people monopolies on services in small geographical areas. Contracts never expire where you can literally replace the "business" that supplies those services. IE: Sanitation department versus a sanitation company just as example.

Do if taxes are frozen on one piece of property the rest of the properties need to make up that difference. In 12 years that law could work in my benefit but that isn't the answer. Time to start cutting 1000's of the 6 figure salaries and benefits. Literally where does the money go?

They really ought to talk to the retard Poloncarz who has been raising County property taxes at record rates. The state senate Democrats have no intention of giving anyone property tax relief. Tim Kennedy is a stooge....which so far is the high light of his professional career.

On another thread on this site there has been a lengthy diatribe about the real property tax preference given to condo owners at the expense of other property tax payers. Now Sen Toby Stavisky wants to give them further tax breaks, proposed like a true NYC resident who cares nothing for the plight of upstate tax payers and whose only qualification for the job is being the widow of the senator who held it before her. We could go on and on.
