Darius Pridgen addresses media following recent shootings in the Fruit Belt
Reverend Darius Pridgen is speaking to members of the media Saturday morning following a meeting with other community leaders regarding the recent violence in the Fruit Belt neighborhood .

and I was going to take a tour tonight of the historic fruitbelt.

I'm curious to what residents in that area want "the city" to do to stop the shootings. Other than setup guard stations on each corner and perhaps start up random searches looking for weapons what can be done? You can do stop and frisk because that's profiling. Random bullets do not profile when they hit people.

Lack of parenting and behavioral issues? Could be related to no jobs but then you need to look at what causes this in NYS. What chases businesses from our area?

If this is drug related how is it that people in their community know where the "drug" stores are but not the police?

Much of the recent shooting/murders/crime has been on the East side of Buffalo..and yet, when the Buffalo Police Dept was proactive in having checkpoints in this high crime area...there was so much public outcry, profiling, racial discrimination and harassment of the African American citizens, ..the very same population that inhabit this area...it since stopped. They cant have it both ways...the accusations, of discrimination because mostly blacks in the high crime area....YET NOT ONE OF THE COMPLAINANTS have come up with an alternate solution to combat the senseless murders. BTW...the reports as published in the Bflo News ...these stops were productive, finding drugs, illegal guns in those that were searched.
Until this attitude changes, or they come up wtih a better idea to productively prevent the shooting crime spree, or at least assist in reporting those who are responsible...they'll have to live with life in the ghetto.

Not a good weekend in the city. Where the hell is this new police commish on this stuff. At least drummer boy would show face at times.
    Got to be the heat.
26-year-old Santana Anderson had just moved back to Buffalo from Alabama. The mother of two young children was constantly working and didn't have any enemies, her aunt Tabitha Parker said.

Saturday, Anderson was shot and killed on Hagen Street in the City of Buffalo.

According to sources, Anderson was shot in the head.

Her death marks the 36th homicide in Buffalo so far this year. This time last year, there were 32 homicides.

Prior to Anderson's death, Buffalo Police said a 7-year-old girl was shot in the leg while inside her Domedion Avenue home Friday.

And Monday morning, a 12-year-old boy was shot inside a home on Hurlock Avenue. Both of the children are expected to live. Mayor Brown said overtime has been approved for Buffalo Police in an effort to track down the people responsible for these recent shootings. well thats good.

Lots of kids getting shot this summer, not just thug on thug crime anymore.
Time for people to come forward with information. Use the anonymous tip line if there is a chance of retaliation.

I saw Urkel on spectrum news talking about the latest business they closed. So if it's such a bad place with bad clientele why was an off duty cop there? Presumably he was there as a customer as I haven't read anywhere that he was moonlighting as security.

I would simply stop all police, fire and EMS response in certain areas of the city. Create a “sanitary cordon” around those areas and let the people who want to live in lawlessness fend for themselves. Leave the dead and wounded in the streets and let them care for it themselves. Much of the violence is retaliatory so they’re already doing that part now.

WAIT!! They said Black Live Matter...and get rid of the racially profiled Strike Force that was productive in getting drugs and guns off the street!
They got what they wanted...Now they are sowing the benefits!!

Sad that you guys think that way. They who catch a stray bullet didn't create the environment they are stuck in. Are they going to start up stop and frisk? Proactive measures?

The same Black leaders and inner city residents, who are now in litigation with the city in its past efforts earlier this year, over the Strike Force enforcement program in the inner city high crime areas are starting to realize that what was created to protect innocent citizens was instituted to reduce potential crimes such as what has occurred most recently , in the same areas of the city where enforcement was staged...what does this say about the black leaders who didnt realize this was put in force to protect, instead they get on their soap box on any camera/news station and cry discrimination, racial profiling... It's not sad..it is a honest observation of the facts in this case....you want to be politically correct, put your head back in the sand! What more can be said??

Buffalo Police are investigating the shooting death of a Buffalo man in the city's Riverside neighborhood Saturday night.

Second one in two weeks. Then the snooze put this on the front page this morning.

Police say a 28-year-old male was struck by gunfire on the first block of North Lane.

The man was declared deceased at the scene.

No further information is available at this time

Buffalo Police say they're seizing guns without Strike Force. Here's how. not doing a good enough job.

So it'sPeople are also coming forward "giving specific information on people that they know are carrying guns, allowing our officers to develop information," Rinaldo said. "It allows us the probable cause necessary to make those arrests."

"It's not different, necessarily, than how Strike Force did it," Rinaldo said.

But he was adamant: Strike Force is not back. Nor are traffic checkpoints.

Both are the subject of a federal civil rights lawsuit filed in June against the City of Buffalo by the Center for Constitutional Rights, the National Center for Law and Economic Justice and the Western New York Law Center.
a race issue no more than that.

Police, Concentrating their efforts in high crime areas/inner city was very productive...but then why wouldnt that be the most important area to start. ?? The minority population needs to admit ...and some black leaders have ..asked for the strike force to return...whats more important to them?, possible borderline infringements on their constitutional rights, or saving lives in the inner city where most of the killings of innocent citizens in their neighborhoods have occurred? They proclaim black lives matter..yet a very productive operation was terminated because as usual, the race card AGAIN ..was introduced!

I say give the people what they want. Cordon off sections of the city and pull all police, fire and ems services out of those sections. No more constitutional violations then, no more accusations of improper medical care then, no more concerns over property maintenance issues then. Just give the people what they want.

Triple shooting yesterday and it was a little cooler out. I wonder if the thugs take the pistol course

Several men are seriously injured after a shooting in Buffalo on Monday afternoon.

Buffalo Police say, three men, all in their early to mid-20's, were struck by gunfire near Bailey and Berkshire Avenues around 3 p.m.

Police say the men were taken to Erie County Medical Center.

According to detectives, the shooting appears to be targeted.
