Lifetime Health Insurance for Certain Town Employees

Most town employees (hired after 1979) do not receive health insurance upon retirement except for those holding the coveted "exempt" position in town government. It appears that a resolution that is on this Monday's TB Agenda to remove this perk unless serving over 5 years of service. So individuals such as the Town Clerk, her two assistants and various others will need to win another election to receive this. All three of these individuals came from outside of town employment, but only after 5 years of employment, could obtain quite a benefit, where hundreds of others do not.

Eliminated Immediately. Should not even be discussed any further. Far as we know now, 15 years from now health care might cost $10,000 a month.

How does this affect councilmembers? I think the current law is they get life time benefits after 8 years (2 full terms)?. Is this new resolution just providing a certain supervisor life time health benefits by the end of his current term? Otherwise he wouldn't have been eligible (only served 2 years of his previous office).

That has to stop also. 2 terms life time insurance. Bull**** and it needs to stop for any town board.

Councilmembers do not get lifetime health insurance. They can only get insurance while they are in office.

New Exempts were created in 2010

Sooooo why were new expempt positions created in the engineering dept in 2010 or was that at the end of 2009? Did you vote on that Mr. Sanders? Those can be changed...can't they?

Why have they not eliminated the exempt status of asst dept heads? No contracts to deal with...... why are they special? They can be changed.

They should be changed! Isn't Mr. Porno-seeker one of the "new exempts"?

All the information should also be in the minutes of the first organizational meeting of the year too.
