Urgent Care at Walden and Union

Public Hearing: Urgent Care at Walden and Union

What would be a possible objection to this?

I would assume there is way less traffic that a donut shop, gas station or crappy fast food franchise.

Centrally located in our town and every property owner knows where Union and Walden is located

Putting another gas station there would be a hard sell. With Delta Sonic right down the road the competition is high.

Another option would be for the town to buy the property, remove everything and make a mini park. Yeah that's it. A mini park. Put some trees up, few park benches and a bocce ball court.

Council approves urgent care, daycare expansion

“change the face of Walden and Union Road.” - So does a Tim Horton's or another crappy fast food franchise. I don't see his point.

I have some news for you. People cross all over Union and Walden. It's 10:31 am and there is someone right now crossing Union Road a few hundred feet from the corner. My opinion is it's no less safe to cross a few hundred feet from the corner versus at the corner. I have been at this corner for about 36 years. The traffic is never at a stand still at the corner.

There's another person crossing from my side to T-mobile at 10:38 am.

Opps another one!!! 10:39 am. Tim Horton's to the T-mobile parking lot.

So if the bus stops closer to the corner might that increase the chance for an accident? Vehicles will try to run the yellow turn arrow not realize the bus is stopped picking up people.

What is Jim talking about? How is a day care center expansion helping the kids? I would think it would be helping the teachers if they need daycare for their own children.

All in all putting a operating business on the corner is a good thing.

That ugly monstrosity of a building that replaced Walden Dodge changed the face of Walden and Union more than anything else.

    Ugly compared to what?

    The rusted rail road bridges?

The concrete broken curbs and weeds?

Is Jim's truck stop "beautiful"? Or how about Ollie's? A tourist attraction People flock to Cheektowaga just to take in the architecture

Just about every day I look at that digital sign in front of the town hall wondering why do we have one. I don't care if it was grant money or not. In my opinion it was a waste of money. If we are going to have one lets make it useful.

I'd like to have the daily total of money spent to operate the town. Underneath that the names of each board member responsible for our budget.

In the end though I'm totally fine with an urgent care at the corner. I'm going to assume it would be less traffic compared to a gas station or fast food joint.

... the empty moon crater and jersey barrier lot formerly known as K-Mart....

Good point, its just one of many ugly spots. At least the Verizon/Delta Sonic area looks nice.

Kmart gave it a good shot. Walmart started to hurt businesses and then Amazon just drove the nail into the coffin. Just like franchised crap food businesses hurt the original small restaurants that were in the area. I know times change but sometimes not for the better. Just different.

If I feel it is unsafe to make a left turn, I don't.

Another business owner said he noticed it was rather dark. He was making a right turn to Walden from Union and said it was difficult to see someone that was crossing Walden.

I have gone though that intersection at least ( 36 years X 313 days (figure sundays I don't come to the shop) X 2 times a day) 22,500 times. It's actually more than that because I do tend to pop in on Sundays.
