We need to forward the results to the Cheektowaga Town Board.

There will be NO public hearing unless they don't take the lowest bid

Mandatory totes will reduce the rubbish blowing around on garbage day and help with the rat 🐀 infestation in Lancaster. This is a win WIN for our Lancaster as we have to get with the times. Just put the added cost for the totes on our tax bill.

Perhaps not. Cheektowaga has totes and it seems people still have issues with rats including rats chewing through totes.

Not that it doesn't help just sayin

I, only skimmed through the request for proposals.
Now, we're allowed 10 items and am unclear what the new contract would allow.
In the summer months, at times, I fill 2 (64 gal) totes and may have a few clear bags of grass clippings or weeds etc.

The most totes a household can have is four. You can only have duplicates of the 95 gal tote but not the 65 gal tote from what I read.

    Edit-
I'd have to try to sell my totes to someone in a town like Clarence that doesn't have a contract

Oh it helps, Res. It helps in that the many that have been using lidded containers for years will pay for the few slackers who do not have or use lidded containers as required by town ordinance.

As for the old cry that their lids get blown down the street, they now sell containers with hinged lids.

As for believing that the totes are a panacea for reducing rat infestation, not as long as residents continue to ground feed animals, refrain from cleaning up bird feeder spills, refrain from picking up their pets feces, allow their grass to grow tall, or keep a slovenly premise.

And yes, Res, rats eat through totes.

There was a 60 minute presentation regarding the Request for proposal for Solid Waste Collection and Recycling on Monday night. Not a word was mentioned in the Lancaster Bee this week.
