UPDATE - Cheektowaga councilman ordered to stay away from wife, daughters

Cheektowaga councilman ordered to stay away from wife, daughters

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cheektowaga Councilman Jim Rogowski has been ordered to stay away from his wife and three daughters.

Rogowski was charged with criminal contempt and menacing last month. His arrest came after a domestic incident in West Seneca.

Police told News 4 that Rogowski violated an order or protection and was accused of being involved in a road rage accident with his wife.

Rogowski cannot have any third-party contact or communication, except for what is court-ordered, with his daughters.

He will be back in court on April 16.

So if his wife started to go to meetings, which is her right, would that mean he would not be allowed to attend?

I don't know if one party can instigate the issue. If a husband worked at McDonald's and the wife went into that McDonald's would he have to leave?

When a couple is getting a divorce can the wife ask for a RO just to make things tough for the husband? Or must there be a reason to have one issued?

I know nothing about why the order was issued but there is supposed to be a reason. As we see, in today’s ambience, an accusation, however old absurd or untrue, is enough to ruin someone’s life. I doubt the court would take kindly to wifey stalking him just to put him on the spot. Maybe then he gets a protective order too.

I think he needs to focus on his family and step aside. The town will continue to function as it does. Maybe even better in the long run. At least if I was on the board that would be how I see it.

If she showed up at a town board meeting, HE would HAVE to leave. She has the court on her side. She can make his life more miserable then it already is.
She holds all the cards so to speak.

talked to 3 more older timers in the last few days. All three said you don't have clue what the town is like internally. Friends and family far more than one would think. Had a good talk with someone today. Basically said the same thing.

anecdotally that appears to be the opening move in the divorce attorney playbook from what I've heard from people that have been divorced.

An RO might be issued in a divorce proceeding but it only comes with an arrest if it’s violated. For example, by chasing one’s spouse down Orchard Park Road.

This is domestic violence he should be off the board. When you are orders by the courts to stay way from your family this is domestic violence issue.

Thursday May 31 is Jim Rogowski’s court date. This should be interesting. Right now he is facing a criminal contempt charge and a misdemeanor menacing charge

He was just on tv talking about the new restaurant coming to Cheektowaga on Walden. Why did the media even go with him? He was just as bad as when they let Wagner on the air and talk about his Gorilla.
