Concerns over proposed cell tower in Cheektowaga

CHEEKTOWAGA, NY -- Cheektowaga residents voiced concerns about a proposed cell tower Tuesday night. The newest proposal puts the tower on vacant, town-owned land along Transit Road near Madeira Drive.
Developers have suggested multiple location, each raising their own concerns.
"We're gonna get stuck with a cell phone tower in this area whether we want it or not," said one resident.

I wish my home was closer to this. I wouldn't mind a cell phone tower and the revenue it will produce if it was at the back of the yard. Would help offset the obnoxious property taxes the town charges.

I agree. I also believe it will help more people then it hurts.

So how much are they paying the town for the tower/easement/use of town owned property?

Could be a sizable chunk. We were offered a cell tower placement on some property we own in Florida. The issue was it would have made selling the rest of the property difficult once up. I'm not planning on keeping it so we passed. I think we were offered about 800 a month.

There will be a contract where this is spelled out.

Why would you be against better cell service?

I don't care if a cell tower goes up. The people that would care are the people who the tower is next to. It may effect their ability to sell their homes.
