Jussie Smollett released from jail amid appeal on charges he faked hate crime
Here is footage of Jussie in jail (voiced over in a meme)...Jussie Smollett was released from jail Wednesday night, hours after an Illinois state appellate court ruled he could go free while his lawyers appeal his conviction for staging a hate crime.
Smollett, 39, left jail in Chicago flanked by two of his brothers and three large bodyguards and said nothing as he was ushered into a light-colored SUV that drove away from the Cook County Detention Center around 8 p.m. local time.
Smollett had been behind bars for six days –where lawyers said he did not eat and consumed only ice water — after being sentenced to five months in jail following his conviction on five counts of felony disorderly conduct for lying to police.

Yesterday The American Spectator published my article about the war in Ukraine. In it I question Joe Biden’s mental competency and his murky financial ties to the combatant nations.
The article was featured by Real Clear Politics, made its “Most Read” list, and has gone viral.
It has generated a tidal wave of reader comments and emails most of which have been positive. But my favorite response was an email from somebody calling himself “Marvin”. Here in its entirety is a slightly cleaned up version:
“You’re a f***ing idiot and a goddamn (sic) liar to boot.”
Editor’s note: Since “goddamn” refers to the Deity, it should be capitalized thus: “Goddamn”.
In any event, based on his email’s sophisticated and nuanced level of discourse, I think Marvin would fit right in at Yale Law School.
As for the first runner-up prize for commentary, it goes to “Historybuff” who posted this incisive observation on The American Spectator website:
“This [article] is utter bunk. It is Communist practice & doctrine to undermine governments by methods such as this junk article…raises the quest (sic)…Is the ‘spectator’…are trumpers…a Communist front?”

Joe Biden was installed in the Oval Office by a process that had all the features of the color revolutions that our deep state has so successfully fomented around the world. On election night, the vote count was mysteriously halted. There followed an avalanche of mail-in ballots of unknown provenance. The corporate media promptly declared Biden the winner, and denounced anyone who dared to publicly question this outcome. Those who persisted in challenging the result were smeared, banned from social media, and canceled. Many have been sued in court or had their livelihoods threatened or destroyed.
And with that, it was mission accomplished. America’s color revolution had succeeded in installing a drooling fool in the Oval Office.
Today Russia has decided to exploit Biden’s obvious weaknesses. But how long will it be before Communist China, North Korea, Iran, Islamic terrorists, narco states and every other malign element take advantage of the unprecedented opportunity presented by Biden’s weak and semi-comatose leadership?
We must face facts. Donald Trump, the only President in this century who did not get us into a war and whose policies produced a thriving economy, American energy independence, and stable foreign relations, has been replaced by a literal idiot who has wrecked our economy, opened our borders, and undermined our national security. And now, in his most remarkable achievement to date, he has gotten us into a shooting war between two countries where in each he and his family have surreptitiously reaped untold wealth.
The fact is that we have gone to war on behalf of a country where, according to a U.S. Senate report, the Biden family has had questionable financial dealings and are fighting yet another country where Elena Baturina, the wife of the former mayor of Moscow and reputedly the wealthiest woman in Russia, made a 2014 wire transfer of $3.5 million to Rosemont Seneca Thornton LLC, a company co-founded by Hunter Biden. In 2015, then Vice President Joe Biden was seen having dinner in Georgetown with Ms. Baturina. Unlike other oligarchs, she reportedly has not been subject to the U.S. sanctions which were imposed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
All of which gives rise to certain unavoidable questions. What are the Biden family’s benefactors in Ukraine and Russia getting for their money? Whose interests is the Biden regime serving? What covert influences may be in play and what effect, if any, are they having on our involvement in and conduct of the war?
These are vital and troubling questions. We are staring at the possibility of getting into a nuclear war over a conflict that does not directly or immediately affect our national security or survival. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is vile, cruel, and evil, but it does not pose an imminent threat to the United States.
Moreover, why is the Biden regime giving precedence to the invasion of Ukraine over the ongoing invasion of the United States through our southern border? How is it that the Biden regime is allowing and promoting the invasion of our nation while – at the risk of nuclear world war – it has maneuvered us into an armed conflict over the territorial integrity of a country that abuts Russia?
Is this a case of misdirection? Is the Biden regime using this war to distract us from the disaster at our southern border and the wanton and mindless destruction of our energy independence and economy?
Don’t expect any of our leaders or corporate media to pose or seek answers to these questions. But consider this. The fate of the world is in the hands of a man who is literally and demonstrably a weak-willed and mentally disabled dimwit with highly questionable financial interests on both sides of the war in Ukraine as well as in Communist China which is on the verge of coming to Russia’s assistance.
What could possibly go wrong?

Trump also names the Democratic National Committee and many more for what he alleges was an attempt to manufacture the Russian collusion story to smear his stunning presidential victory.
“Under the guise of ‘opposition research,’ ‘data analytics,’ and other political stratagems, the Defendants nefariously sought to sway the public’s trust,” the lawsuit state. “They worked together with a single, self-serving purpose: to vilify Donald J. Trump. Indeed, their far-reaching conspiracy was designed to cripple Trump’s bid for presidency by fabricating a scandal that would be used to trigger an unfounded federal investigation and ignite a media frenzy.”
Special counsel Robert Mueller later looked into the allegations, filing an inconclusive report.
The lawsuit hits hard at the so-called “Steele Dossier” — a scandal that Trump’s suit states was a “fully debunked collection of reports … riddled with misstatements, misrepresentations and, most of all, flat out lies.”

Inside Hunter Biden’s multimillion-dollar deals with a Chinese energy company
A Washington Post review confirms key details and offers new documentation of Biden family interactions with Chinese executives

The deal was years in the making, the culmination of forging contacts, hosting dinners, of flights to and from China. But on Aug. 2, 2017, signatures were quickly affixed, one from Hunter Biden, the other from a Chinese executive named Gongwen Dong.
Within days, a new Cathay Bank account was created. Within a week, millions of dollars started to change hands.
Within a year, it would all begin to collapse.
While many aspects of Hunter Biden’s financial arrangement with CEFC China Energy have been previously reported and were included in a Republican-led Senate report from 2020, a Washington Post review confirmed many of the key details and found additional documents showing Biden family interactions with Chinese executives.
Over the course of 14 months, the Chinese energy conglomerate and its executives paid $4.8 million to entities controlled by Hunter Biden and his uncle, according to government records, court documents and newly disclosed bank statements, as well as emails contained on a copy of a laptop hard drive that purportedly once belonged to Hunter Biden.
The Post did not find evidence that Joe Biden personally benefited from or knew details about the transactions with CEFC, which took place after he had left the vice presidency and before he announced his intentions to run for the White House in 2020.
But the new documents — which include a signed copy of a $1 million legal retainer, emails related to the wire transfers, and $3.8 million in consulting fees that are confirmed in new bank records and agreements signed by Hunter Biden — illustrate the ways in which his family profited from relationships built over Joe Biden’s decades in public service.
The CEFC deal became one of the most lucrative, if short-lived, foreign ventures Hunter Biden is known to have pursued. The Post review draws in part on an analysis of a copy said to be of the hard drive of a laptop computer that Hunter Biden purportedly dropped off at a Delaware repair shop and never came to collect. The laptop was turned over to the FBI in December 2019, according to documents reviewed by The Post, and a copy of the drive was obtained by Rudy Giuliani and other advisers to then-President Donald Trump a few months before the 2020 election.
After the New York Post began publishing reports on the contents of the laptop in October 2020, The Washington Post repeatedly asked Giuliani and Republican strategist Stephen K. Bannon for a copy of the data to review before the election, but the requests were rebuffed or ignored.
In June 2021, a copy was provided to The Post by Jack Maxey, an activist who received a copy from Giuliani in 2020, at a time when Maxey was working with Stephen K. Bannon and his “War Room” podcast.

Hunter Biden sent these text messages to his brother’s widow Hallie Biden on December 14, 2018, at 10:31 AM according to text messages found on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop by the non-profit research group “Marco Polo” headed by Garrett Ziegler, who worked as a White House policy analyst under former President Donald Trump.
All of Hunter Biden’s text messages found on his laptop, including those featured in this article, can be found compiled in a searchable 888-page pdf on Marco Polo’s website.
Founded in 2002, CEFC China Energy Company Limited (CEFC China) was the largest private oil and gas company in China when Hunter Biden began doing business with them in 2017.
As Hunter explained to his business partner Tony Bobulinski in text messages, he spoke with the Chairman of CEFC China Ye Jianming on a “regular basis” because we have “a standing once a week call as I am also his personal counsel (we signed an attorney client engagement letter) in the U.S.”
Hunter also said he was advising Ye “on a number of his personal issues (staff visas and some more sensitive things).”

Forensic Analysis of Hunter Biden's laptop regarding deleted documents...after conducting a forensic analysis of their own that PROVED authenticity!
AUTHENTICATING THE LAPTOP
DailyMail.com commissioned cyber forensics experts at Maryman & Associates to examine the hard drive to determine its authenticity.
The firm's founder, Brad Maryman, was a 29-year veteran of the FBI, served as a Chief Information Security Officer and founded the bureau's cyber forensics unit. His partner, Dr. Joseph Greenfield, is an associate professor at the University of Southern California and helped write their degree program in intelligence and cyber operations.
After an extensive analysis of the hard drive, Greenfield and Maryman produced a report for DailyMail.com detailing their findings.
Using the same forensic tools as federal and state law enforcement in criminal investigations, they found a total of 103,000 text messages, 154,000 emails and more than 2,000 photos.
- They found emails for multiple accounts on the laptop dating back to 2009, and other data which 'appears to be related to Mr. Biden' between 2016 and 2019.
- The report's findings were consistent with the known timeline for the hard drive. A Wilmington, Delaware computer store work order with Hunter's signature shows he left his 2017 MacBook Pro laptop there on April 12, 2019.
- The Maryman & Associates report said the original 'Macintosh HD' drive was created on March 28, 2018
- Hunter's iCloud email address was added to the laptop's system on October 21 2018, as well as his work email at his firm Rosemont Seneca on February 2 2019.
- The same day, a Gmail address he used to log onto sex cam sites, and another personal Gmail address belonging to Hunter, were also added.
- Beau Biden's old Gmail account was added on February 7 2019.
- Emails addressed to Hunter's various email addresses dating from December 2009 to December 2020 were found on the system.
- An iPad with the name 'Hunter's iPad' and three email addresses associated with the Biden family was backed up on the laptop and on iCloud in January 2019 and again a month later.
- Greenfield found 818 call logs in this iPad backup with timestamps from June 2016 to February 2019.
- There were 8,942 entries in the iPad's contacts book, created between April 2016 and January 2019.
- In February 2019 an iPhone XS was also synced with the laptop. Its serial number was consistent with the timestamps of the data on the phone.
In conclusion, 'The operating system timestamps appear to be authentic, and no evidence was found to suggest that the timestamps or data were altered or manufactured,' the report said. 'No indications were found that would suggest the data was manufactured.'

US professor Feng ‘Franklin’ Tao convicted of concealing China ties
The University of Kansas employee was accused of concealing work he was doing for Fuzhou University while doing research funded by the US government.
A chemical engineering professor at the University of Kansas was convicted on Thursday on charges that he concealed work he was doing in China while conducting research that was funded by the US government.
A federal jury in Kansas City found Feng “Franklin” Tao guilty of four of the eight counts against him including wire fraud charges in the latest trial to result from a now-ended Trump-era crackdown on Chinese influence within US research.
He was one of about two dozen academics charged in the US Department of Justice “China Initiative”, which was launched during former president Donald Trump’s administration to counter suspected Chinese economic espionage and research theft.
The Justice Department in February ended the initiative following several failed prosecutions and criticism that it chilled academic research and fuelled bias against Asians, though it said it would continue pursuing cases over threats posed by China.

The Justice Department says China uses those programmes to entice foreign researchers to share their knowledge with it.Prosecutors alleged that in 2018, Tao signed a five-year contract with Fuzhou University in China that required him to be a full-time employee after applying to participate in one of China’s “talent plans”.
Yet prosecutors said Tao falsely in reports filed with the school claimed no conflicts of interest, allowing him to defraud the university, the US Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation.

The former shop owner, John Paul Mac Isaac, decided to fight back after losing his business and being harassed for 18 months by Big Tech, the media and Delaware locals in President Biden’s home state.
“After fighting to reveal the truth, all I want now is for the rest of the country to know that there was a collective and orchestrated effort by social and mainstream media to block a real story with real consequences for the nation,” the 45-year-old Mac Isaac told The Post.
“This was collusion led by 51 former pillars in the intelligence community and backed by words and actions of a politically motivated DOJ and FBI,” he continued. “I want this lawsuit to reveal that collusion and more importantly, who gave the marching orders.”
Mac Isaac came to legally own the laptop after Biden’s son Hunter dropped it off at his store for repairs in April 2019 and never came back. The material on the laptop has raised serious questions about what Biden knew of his son’s overseas business deals, during which he and the president’s brother Jim Biden often invoked his powerful name.
Mac Isaac handed over a copy of the laptop’s hard drive to the FBI in December 2019, and eight months later, alerted then-President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who provided a copy of the hard drive to The Post.
When The Post’s first story broke in October 2020 — just three weeks before the presidential election — Twitter and Facebook moved to censor it. Then Schiff (D-Calif.) and 51 former intelligence officials labeled the laptop Russian disinformation.
In the aftermath, Mac Isaac says, his business and reputation were ruined.
“Twitter initially labeled my action hacking, so for the first day after my information was leaked, I was bombarded with hate mail and death threats revolving around the idea that I was a hacker, a thief and a criminal,” Mac Isaac said.
Schiff, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, “has some explaining” to do, Mac Isaac insisted.
“Without any intel, the head of the intel committee decided to share with CNN and its viewers a complete and utter lie,” Mac Isaac said. “A lie issued in the protection of a preferred presidential candidate.”
Mac Isaac said he’s since endured false accusations of being a Russian spy and a “stooge” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The fight to get to the bottom of who told everyone this was Russian disinformation is far more important for the nation than me clearing my name,” Mac Isaac said.
In the suit, which was filed in Montgomery County, Md., Mac Isaac claims Schiff defamed him in an interview on CNN two days after The Post began publishing revelations from the laptop.
In the interview with Wolf Blitzer, Schiff told the CNN host — without citing evidence — that he believed “the Kremlin” was behind a smear of Joe and Hunter Biden.
“Well, we know that this whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin. That’s been clear for well over a year now that they’ve been pushing this false narrative about the vice president and his son,” Schiff told Blitzer, according to the suit.
Mac Isaac was forced to close his computer repair business near the Biden family homes in Greenville, Delaware, after people started throwing vegetables, eggs and dog excrement at his store. He went into exile in Colorado for a year.
The suit claims CNN knowingly broadcast the “false and defamatory story” that the laptop was linked to a Russian disinformation campaign, causing Mac Isaac significant damage, including the closing of his repair shop.
“CNN’s broadcast of the false statement accuses the Plaintiff of committing an
infamous crime, i.e., treason by working with the Russians to commit a crime against the United States of America by attempting to undermine American democracy and the 2020 Presidential election,” the suit states.
Similarly, Mac Isaac accuses the Daily Beast and Politico of peddling disinformation about the laptop in two articles published on both sites.
The Daily Beast claimed the laptop was “purloined” — which Mac Isaac says alleges that he stole the computer — in an article headlined “FBI Examining Hunter’s Laptop as Foreign Op, Contradicting Trump’s Intel Czar,” the suit states.
And in an infamous story on Politico, the website reported dozens of former intel officials believed the laptop to be “Russian disinfo.”
“The article was written by journalist Natasha Bertrand, who seemingly has a history of transforming speculation into fact in the stories upon which she reports,” the suit states.
His attorney Brian Della Rocca said Mac Isaac is seeking “at least $1 million in compensatory damages [and] punitive damages which will be the much bigger number and will be determined at trial.”
Mac Isaac has “suffered immensely at the false statements spread about those who brought the information on Hunter Biden’s laptop to everyone’s attention,” Della Rocca said.
“He has lost his business, friendships, and his honorable standing in his community,” the attorney continued. “This lawsuit is to attempt to repair a small portion of that damage caused by the defendants in the suit … We intend to show that their actions were intentionally malicious.”
Mac Isaac tried unsuccessfully to sue Twitter for defamation last year and was lumbered with the tech giant’s legal bills — an amount he says is roughly $175,000.
But Mac Isaac now has well-heeled backers at nonprofit The America Project, which was founded by Trump loyalists retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn, brother Joe Flynn and businessman Pat Byrne.
“[We are] honored to sponsor John Paul Mac Isaac in his fight against the injustice that has been done to him when the political elite coordinated with the leftist news media claiming the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation — which was a blatant lie,” the group said.
“The synchronized efforts of these parties to wield their words like weapons are evident through years long continuous coverage that led to extreme public backlash against JP and the closing of his business.”
Mac Isaac has penned a book about his ordeal — “American Injustice: My Battle to Expose the Truth” — which will be released in November.
The Post exclusively revealed the existence of Hunter Biden’s emails in a series of reports in October 2020 based on the contents of a damaged MacBook Pro laptop that was abandoned at Mac Isaac’s shop in the Biden family’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.
After downplaying the emails as unverified, both the New York Times and the Washington Post authenticated many of them — including some apparently being used in a federal probe of suspected tax fraud, money laundering and foreign lobbying violations by Hunter Biden.
Calls to Schiff, CNN, the Daily Beast and Politico were not immediately returned.

Nina’s name appeared in one of the most explosive and aggressively censored national security leaks of the century. Founded in mid-2015 under the auspices of the U.K. government-funded NGO “Institute for Statecraft,” the Integrity Initiative boasted a precociously fashionable motto: “Defending Democracy Against Disinformation.”
The Integrity Initiative “defended democracy” by recruiting secretive “clusters” of academics, national security bureaucrats, journalists, think tankers, and lobbyists in multiple European countries. These clusters would then be engaged in various ways to address nation-specific threats of so-called “Russian disinformation.”

Day 1 of the Michael Sussmann trial is a wrap.
It started with disclosure by Special Counsel DeFilippis informing the Court that government witness Dr. Manos Antonakakis (identified as Researcher-1 in the Sussmann indictment) “has decided to invoke his Fifth Amendment right.” He would not be called to the stand. More background on Manos here.
From there it was time for opening statements.
Special Counsel Brittain Shaw made clear that this case is “about privilege: the privilege of a well-connected D.C. lawyer with access to the highest levels of the FBI; the privilege of a lawyer who thought that he could lie to the FBI without consequences.” Using that privilege, Sussmann:
“went straight to the FBI general counsel's office, the FBI's top lawyer. He then sat across from that lawyer and lied to him. He told a lie that was designed to achieve a political end, a lie that was designed to inject the FBI into a presidential election.”
Circumventing the political leanings of the jury, the Special Counsel explained that “we are here because the FBI is our institution that should not be used as a political tool for anyone.” She elaborated that Sussmann, on behalf of his clients - the Hillary Clinton Campaign and Rodney Joffe - planned to manipulate the FBI, and trigger negative news stories, “to create an October surprise on the eve of the presidential election.” As to the evidence:

FBI Supervisory Special Agent David Martin.
Agent Martin was the first government witness to testify. He explained the technicalities of the DNS data which alleged to have shown a secret back channel between Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization.
Sussmann’s attorney asked Martin if he knew Rodney Joffe a “confidential human source for the FBI.”
Martin replied “I was told that after the fact.”
On redirect, the Special Counsel offered this interesting bit of information relating to Joffe: “Are you aware that Mr. Joffe was closed for cause as a source?”
FBI Special Agent Scott Hellman
Hellman was involved in investigating the Alfa Bank allegations. He testified that the evidence (data and white papers explaining the data) provided to then-FBI general counsel James Baker from Sussmann was passed off to none other than the infamous Peter Strzok. One of these white papers stated:
“The only plausible explanation for this server configuration is that it shows the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank to be using multiple sophisticated layers of protection in order to obfuscate their considerable recent email traffic.”
Hellman disagreed with that finding, and the general Trump/Alfa allegations presented by Joffe/Sussmann, stating they “were not supported by the technical data.” Their methodology was “questionable” and the purported secret communications “just didn’t ring true at all.” He further questioned the timing of the data, stating he found it suspicious that these researchers “started looking, and they found that the activity had just started three weeks prior.”
This gets us to the issue of materiality. Sussmann’s attorneys argue that even if there were lies, they weren’t material to the investigation. The Special Counsel asked why sources matter. The key exchange:

After the lunch recess, there was a discussion of whether Joffe’s termination as a source would be allowed to be discussed further during the trial. The court requested it be kept out - as Joffe’s data collection effort “is not at issue” in the trial. Special Counsel DeFilippis explained why Joffe had been “terminated” as a source:
the reason he was terminated, as we understand it from the FBI, is because of what he did in connection with the conduct that the defendant was involved in, which is, rather than bringing this Alfa-Bank information to his source handler, bringing it to the general counsel of the FBI, that was a breach of how a source is supposed to report information.

After Agent Hellman reviewed a Alfa Bank white paper that had been submitted by Sussmann, Hellmann sent a message to a colleague that the white paper “feels a little 5150ish.” On cross-examination, here’s his explanation of what that meant:
