    Remembering Irv Weinstein: A Buffalo Broadcasting Legend

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Irv Weinstein, the patriarch of 7 Eyewitness News who turned WKBW into a broadcasting powerhouse in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, lost his battle with ALS this afternoon in California.

    He was 87 years-old.

    Irwin Weinstein, or Irv as Western New York affectionately knew him, was born on April 29, 1930 in Rochester.

    Now who is going to convince the Johnny Canucks that every house in the city is on fire! My wife’s maid of honor married a guy from Toronto. She dragged him here to visit a couple of times and he was convinced that there would be a fire on our street. I think he left somewhat disappointed every time.
