You talking about Buffalo ? Buffalo is 3rd poorest city going on 12 years in row and it looks like it, 99.99999% is public funded, All the current projects coming are low income housing or training in the hood or more bike paths & parks

This is always amusing to read, someone who hasn’t been here in forever vs someone who came here for a long weekend , constantly going back and forth about how this area blows/ is the best thing going. As someone who lives here on a daily basis, my observation is it leans toward the Jennifer view but not as bad as she says. It’s a depressed area, not very appealing place for out of towners to rush to, but has been sprucing up lately, new drapes and paint type of stuff. NY taxes will be sure to kill any big investment or mass migration back here. New medical corridor is nice, just re located hospitals to one central area, probably not a net gain in jobs. A few stories about 30 somethings coming back, ok, very few. New businesses downtown, brewpubs, big deal, some guys with beards coming up with some ****ty ipa with some catchy Buffalo label, at least its not moving backwards. And supposedly the 750 million dollar wonder is now up to 300 employees working for Panasonic/ Tesla, so we’ll see what happens to that white elephant. Not happy about taxes or politicians but that’s not going to change anytime soon. So that’s where we stand in my opinion. Am I moving though, nope. Family, friends great neighbors, walk into almost any restaurant, bar, wegmans and bump into a few people you know , lots of nightlife, parks, lakes etc for recreation, hard to duplicate anywhere else.

I must agree with this. I was randomly picking up single bottles of various Buffalo created beer including other "speciality" beers. Many I would never buy again.

It could change rather quickly if we just put our minds to it.

First off, I didn't come there for a long weekend, It was almost a month, but daily, I read everything I see about the city, talk to friends and family...daily! about things there. I didn't hide in Lancaster for that month, either. I saw every part of the area, up close. Talked to people. You people live in a bubble. I'm not saying it's Valhalla, but please. New court house, new hospital, amoungst others at the Medical campus, etc. Maybe that's hard to see form your porch in Eggertsville, or your shop in West Seneca or your prefab hovel in the goddamned desert.

You know, there used to be a lot of people that posted on here, but you doom and gloom motherf*****s won't be satisfied until you've run off any and everyone that isn't seeing life with blinders on or has any sort of positive outlook. Once the last 6 of you are the only ones left, you can all cry and complain and whine (and not do one goddamned thing to change anything) until your heads explode.

Where the hell have any of you ever been before? Nowhere for most of you. It makes me sick to my stomach how you constantly piss on your own garden. You're pathetic. All of you

I was hoping you had an understanding to what I was saying. sigh..., when the SHTF AZ is as screwed as everyone else if not more.. Do you even remember 2008? Arizona was the foreclosure capital of the US?

Boom areas are hit the hardest during a down turn.

Sorry I peed in your cornflakes but the new courthouse and new hospitals are pretty but not job creators, just relocated and look prettier , which is nice. Once again , you visited, you talk to people, you read the paper, that’s great but unless you’re here you don’t see the whole picture. This area is economically depressed, it is over taxed, that’s just the facts. I listed the best parts about it and those you can never put a price on and that’s why a lot of us stay.

The posters are on here posting what’s happening here on a daily basis with out of control costs and corruption. Why do you lefties have to get so unhinged with name calliing and such divisive language? You really should get some therapy. I’m sure there’s some forum somewhere that has posts everyday about rainbows and unicorns but this isn’t it and good luck finding it

Even during the national recession Arizona was still growing and their was lots of construction going on, Also Arizona did not raise taxes during then recession either, they tighten their belt and public sector workers were layoff & their receive pay cuts & gave back benefits, 10 years since most AZ public sector workers got raise. My propety taxes in 2008 in Lancaster NY were $7,100/yr Now in 2018 their over $11,150 vs In 2008 my property taxes in Gilbert AZ were $1,160/yr, Now in 2018 their now only $998/yr O wait maybe that's why AZ is growing & booming and the best days are coming and Erie County is dying, shrinking & has NO Private investment and with the shrinking tax base and the skyrocketing costs of providing the basic services, the worst days are yet to come. Sunny and it's going to be 80 today, time to go jet skiing at the lakes and I know the people in Buffalo's highlight everyday is going to Wegmans, wearing 12 layers of Buffalo Bill's & One Buffalo clothing and drinking a 6 pack & smoking Pot in their Submarines

AZ & Erie County are to 2 speeding trains going in different directions !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh you mean they rearrange the chairs while the ship is taking on water. That is how I see things like the courthouse and moving hospitals around.

Many people stay because of family not because of how many restaurants we have in the area. I have a mother-in-law and my mom alive. We wouldn't leave them here.

The people who call others racist, violent and divisive are usually the ones who are racist, violent and divisive.

Facebook came along which made it far easier for people to vent including making up numerous accounts.

Honestly it's just math,,, who is staying, who is leaving , basically what are the economic comparative benchmarks?. It's just economic math. NY is running a 4 billion dollar deficit and the new tax law is going to result in more people leaving the state. It's not good or bad .. .it just is... Unfortunately many of the them will bring socialist leanings to the lower tax states and voting for the same largess that screwed the states that they came from .. this is one of many reasons the left sucks...It's no wonder Liberal New Yorker/Cali transplants have such a terrible reputation.

On a positive note, the Buff Niagara region has a lower cost of living than a lot of places.

It's ok for the left to be angry about a bunch of silly crap, but when people point out obvious social, governmental, economic dysfunctions we are cursed for it...F them then.

Bottom line is that Lefties will clamor for "justice" until they have to pay for.. like Obama care for example.. the Harvard think tank that crafted it was ok with it until they were directed to use it... Like I said none of them will be mailing their refunds back or taking in the poor and refugees into their homes. Show me one that does and you got my attention, but usually it's just name calling, and mis directed violence.

You don't like Buffalo and think Arizona is heaven,, yeah I get it.. I used to live in Mesa..so what.

What you don't seem to comprehend is that when our fiat currency is debased, and the interest on our loans go up occupying more and more of our GDP, and China and other countries stop buying our bonds to fund unsustainable spending on debt we can never pay back then THAT AFFECTS ALL OF US... In the US where I live, we use the dollar... which is subject to everything above..

I could go on to provide statistics and more data to explain what I am talking about but I think that would be lost on you.

Last time I checked Arizona was in the US.

And what are you doing about it? Anything? Anything to make it better?? Because one thing I came away with is that are people who do t ry to make things better, fighting a big hill to do it. Res doing anything besides sitting in his little store, cleaning out computer cases and whining about ecdems all day?

I pay my taxes and vote, that’s what I do. I’m. I’m not a business developer who can create jobs, I’m not a politician who can claim to create jobs. The people that are trying to make things better are fighting a big hill, high taxes, legacy costs, and political red tape.

That guy sitting in his “little store” is doing a lot more by having the guts to have a small business in this area and providing this forum for people to speak up. He’s not a whiner, he’s just relaying the facts about this area and the frustrations it’s causing the rest of us, the ones who live here everyday.
