Shooter had right to protect his home, family of badly wounded Buffalo boy says

The family of the boy shot in the face by a homeowner on Buffalo's East Side isn't calling for charges against the shooter.

The boy – who is celebrating his 13th birthday today – lost his right eye, has shotgun pellets embedded in his brain and has a collapsed lung after he was hit by a shotgun blast in the face and chest outside a home on Quincy Street just before noon Friday.

I find this irresponsible. I'm surprised anyone would just shoot through a window.

He saw a hoodie. The guy in the southern tier thought he saw a deer.

Just irresponsible. From what it sounds like he shot blindly out the window. Even if he aimed through the window he wasn't in danger where the shot was called for.

It will be interesting to see what the DA comes up with. Although the use of deadly force (shooting counts even if they don't die) requires a "duty to retreat." That duty doesn't exist in your home or certain felonies, but I'm pretty sure you would need to be INSIDE the house for legal justification in this case.

What do you think of the guy who shot the woman while hunting deer.

Police said neighbor Thomas Jadlowski, 34, believed he saw a deer in a field 200 yards away when he fired the deadly shot.

The shooting was 40 minutes after sunset — a violation of state laws forbidding hunting in the dark.

Know your target and what's beyond it. There are no warning shots unless you're in a marine environment.

The guy in Sherman was hunting past legal hours and trespassing. He's an idiot. Same as the guy who shot at a brown truck thinking it was a deer.

This one is a little easier. Homicide occurred while committing an unrelated crime (DEC violation, perhaps shooting too close to a structure) so yea, criminal charges are likely.

Kid should have been in school instead of out committing crimes.
Vote for freedom, not political parties.
    Politicians need to cut spending
