Declining Enrollment, School Districts Stay the Same - No Mergers

In WNY, we have 82 school districts, 28 in Erie County alone. If you merge 4 of the Cheektowaga school districts, the newly merged school district would be only the 3rd largest and slightly bigger than the 4th and 5th largest. Alleghany has 12 school districts, the total would be less than Erie's 5th largest school district. I'm looking at the numbers, declining population. Not sure how long this can continue.

Also Erie County alone as over 100 Fire Districts/FD's and each fire district/FD alone has enough apparatus to cover a small city with population of 100,000 to 150,000

The School Districts will not consider a merger because the people in charge of their district, do not want to lose the power they have in controlling their district.

When the day Insolvent comes and every day, minute, second it's getting closer & closer. Keep raising taxes & keep giving yearly raises & bonsus's and refuse to stop pension spiking and it's going to get ugly when people lose lots of $$$$$$$ on their propery values sink & money paying higher & higher taxes on the road to going insolvent. The Government's & Unions are prepared to take everyone down with them, because it's mine, mine and their entiled to it. Everyone who already left Erie County (already 1/2 the population has left ) are watching the show, popcorn, peanuts,

Jennifer you are right. We will go insolvent due to the fact that the people that pay the taxes (other that the unionized voters) don't vote.
They are to lazy to get off their rear ends and vote. The unionized voters will always vote to protect their pension and wages.
I'm hoping I can see area go insolvent in my lifetime.

I think it would be better to be proactive instead of waiting for that day to come.

How does Cheektowaga have 4 school districts, 5 if you count Depew?

I suppose it's good for the community. We have 5 jobs created versus 1. It's all about jobs isn't it?

Good paying jobs. I just went to seethroughny.org and pull the top 50 employees from the 4 school districts. Remember this is base pay. You still have to add the health insurance package and benefit package on top of these figures.

I like how the Public unions poured millions into defeating the con con.
Spun the false narrative that it would give crooked pols more power.
When the truth was it would give the people more power.
And the public servants would lose their block voting power to keep the cheese flowing.
Until their pay/pension checks come back ISF.

They spun the idea that every state government pension was going to be taken away. Talked face to face with people who believed that. One gentlemen has been coming into the shop for years.
