Deputy Highway Superintendent position will stay filled

Ms. Benczkowski and Mr. Wegner estimated the savings to the taxpayers to be an estimated $1 million over the next decade.

Savings are when you pay less compared to what you were paying before for a given service.

Are us property owners really saving an estimated $1000000 over 10 years because it looks good on campaign literature? Or are we spending the same or more for the same service.

As example:

Just round numbers to make a point.

If the budget for highway labor was $5,000,000 for 50 employees. $100k per employee. Remember pay = base + bene's + pension contributions.

The town board wants to look like they are working in our best interest and decide to play musical chairs with employees or perhaps let one or two go.

Two positions are reviewed and if eliminated in theory cuts $200,000 from the budget. What they fail to bring up is the remaining 48 employees are going to receive raises including having the cost of their health care insurance covered.

So if the remaining 48 employees are receiving a 3% raise that means....

$5,000,000 - $200,000 ( "our savings" ) = $4,800,000 X 3% ( pay increase ) = $144,000 more the following year. Then included on top of that the cost increase paid for health coverage. As example. 48 employees receiving top end insurance at $20k a pop = 48 X $20,000 (insurance cost) = $960,000 X let's say 10% cost increase = $96,000 more a year into the budget.

$144,000 + $96,000 = $240,000 which is more than the $200,000 savings they are bragging about. Us property owners end up paying more to employee less employees.

So in reality we are not saving anything but spending more on less employees.

“We’d probably spend thousands and thousands of dollars, and we still wouldn’t come to an understanding,” added Ms. Benczkowski.
Privatization across all departments. I believe most property/business owners in town would be fine with that. Specially when they could look at their tax bill and see a real savings.

Remember which group "negotiated" the contracts. The Cheektowaga Democratic Party. They clearly weren't working in the property owners best interest or they are highly incompetent. Take your pick

Next topic.

Now that primaries are over and Alice is out....

Ask Brian Nowak his view on labor. We don't have much to choose from this round of elections but he is definitely not someone I would want making decisions that effect the cost of services in town.

So basically who do we have left not associated with the Cheektowaga Democratic Party?
