Democratic Party stands for the working class - bed bugs

Democratic Party stands for the working class

By Mark C. Poloncarz and Jeremy Zellner

Recently readers of this column were subjected to the personal opinion of Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo about Democrats “abandoning the working class” and the “ivory tower elitists” running the Democratic Party today.

Perhaps he is searching for relevance in a world that is leaving him behind, but as the targets of the chairman’s ill-informed piece we write to set the record straight and discuss who really stands for the hard-working men and women of Erie County.

As the Democratic Party chairman and Erie County executive, we are the sons of an autoworker and a steelworker, respectively. Our families instilled in us concepts like fair pay for an honest day’s work, equality for all, and service to our community – ideals that remain Democratic tenets today.

I would say the local group of democrats don't really care about the working class except for themselves. Think about it.

Think about all the "working class" property owners who are saddled with the highest property taxes in the nation while our local democrats have been in control...

Think about all the "working class" property owners who pay for countless programs the group supports...

Think about all the "working class" property owners who pay for the importation of refugees through tax dollars. I'm pretty sure Mark is all for that...

Think about all the "working class" property owners who pay for.... fill in the blank... All brought to you by the Erie County Democrats at least at the local level....

The bed bug thing is sad.

I wonder how they were introduced into the building. By people seeking aid/help/information or by the employees.

Neither side cares about the working class
Let me articulate this for you:
"I'm not locked in here with them. They're locked in here with me!!"

Well this possibly answers that question:

Comptroller says about 50 county workers have called with bedbug complaints

An Erie County government employee has been banned from the Rath Building for inadvertently bringing bedbugs to work.

The worker was told not to return without providing medical documentation that he or she is bedbug free. Co-workers reported the matter to the Comptroller's Office and said the employee's work furniture was thrown away.

The case is among the 50 or so reports that came into the Erie County Comptroller's Office after Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw invited county employees to call his Whistleblower Hotline to report bedbug complaints. The Whistleblower Hotline is typically used to confidentially provide information about potential fraud and wrongdoing in-house.

The county administration has spent nearly $4,000 as of August fighting bedbugs. The county also introduced a new anti-clutter policy last month to help eradicate the blood-sucking creatures, but is now considering taking additional steps, such as bringing in bedbug-detecting dogs to hunt down the pests. Ten floors and all elevators in the Rath Building have been sprayed or resprayed since the problem surfaced last fall.
What type of work place needs to have an anti-clutter policy? What type of clutter could there be? This isn't like someone's house who is a hoarder piling things up that should thrown away.

    Canine Scent Detection

Dogs have been used very effectively for the detection of a wide variety of things which include but are not limited to drugs, bombs, fugitives, cadavers, mold, and termites. So why not bed bugs? There would seem to be no reason, and canine scent detection for bed bugs is already available.

A number of scent detection companies have emerged offering canine scent detection of bed bugs. While we are advocates of canine scent detection, it is also our opinion that the current scent detection offerings have limitations. If you are considering a scent detection company you should consider the following:

How frequently do the dogs have false positive alerts (this means that the dog alerts to the presence of bedbugs in situations where bedbugs are not present).
How often (what percent of time) do dogs fail to find bed bugs?

You will want to carefully look at the claims of the company you are considering and determine what type of research has been done to validate their claims on the performance of the dogs. While the use of canine scent detection is both an exciting and promising method for the early detection of bed bugs, it is still an evolving technique and you should exercise caution when considering this method of detection to ensure that the detection service that you select is capable of delivering the level of service that you expect.

    Bed Bug Detection Dogs

RamboClegg’s Termite & Pest Control now has two bed bug detection dogs, Rambo and Smoke. They have been specially trained to detect the presence of live bed bugs in homes and offices. Once they alert their handler to the presence of the bugs, our trained bed bug professionals develop a bed bug treatment plan to rid your property of these pesky critters.

Rambo (pictured right) is our first bed bug dog. Rambo is a chocolate lab. He joined the team in July of 2012 and came to Clegg’s already trained to detect bed bugs. Since arriving he has gone through additional training with Clegg’s team to ensure that Rambo is able to efficiently identify and eradicate bed bugs. Rambo visits homes and businesses in the eastern regions of North Carolina.

We want Rambo. No bed bug has a chance.

"What if I told you there’s a University proven, do-it-yourself, pet and child safe bed bug spray you can use immediately to get rid of bed bugs without POISONING your home?"

Are you looking for a simple to use solution you can trust is safe and which can help you save BIG? Then keep reading because we will show you how you can use our bed bug eradication spray to get rid of bed bugs!

Any good relationship starts with trust. We want to earn your trust, and to do that we’ll be 100% honest and open with you. We ultimately hate bed bugs just as much (if not more!) as you do. Our only priority is to help you get rid of bed bugs, so first we have to tell you that if you have an EXTREME bed bug problem then getting an exterminator might be a wise choice.

It's pretty simple to see if you need professional help: if you found hundreds of bed bugs in multiple rooms and are getting bitten dozens of times a night you probably need a whole team to come and take radical steps to save your home.

A very nice person sent this over

Cleaning the Rath bldg was done by Buildings and Grounds who did a great job of cleaning. However, quite a few years ago, this stopped and welfare recipients in the work program starting taking on this task. The workers do a basic job of emptying trash cans and sweeping. Mopping is done sporadically. Even though the workers are supervised they do not compare with a professional cleaning crew. Some employees sweep and mop/vacuum around their own desk.

There was an ad running on a New York City sports station, either MSG, SNY or YES, that advertised an exterminating company which featured Roscoe the bedbug sniffing beagle.
