The town is self insured plus has insurance to pick up large claims. They pay administrative costs. Either way the towns rates are going up 10% in 2018.
$1.7mil in budget cuts were made last year with recommendations from the Citizen Budget advisory committee.
More cuts were recommended for 2018. It is up to the board to approve them.
Unfortunately the health insurance increase and most of the Unions, if not all are getting 2-3% raises and the combination of the 2 will eat up any cuts made and then some....basically the money is going from the left pocket to right pocket. At best all we can hope for is no tax increase in 2018.
Call the board members and tell them to make deeper cuts then the recommendations, they can if they want to just like they suspend applying the assessment values.
