    DT,

Most people don't give a crap about their "home value" when they are planning to live their entire life in that house. All that "increase" home value does it raise your cost to live in that house.

The town is self insured plus has insurance to pick up large claims. They pay administrative costs. Either way the towns rates are going up 10% in 2018.

$1.7mil in budget cuts were made last year with recommendations from the Citizen Budget advisory committee.

More cuts were recommended for 2018. It is up to the board to approve them.

Unfortunately the health insurance increase and most of the Unions, if not all are getting 2-3% raises and the combination of the 2 will eat up any cuts made and then some....basically the money is going from the left pocket to right pocket. At best all we can hope for is no tax increase in 2018.

Call the board members and tell them to make deeper cuts then the recommendations, they can if they want to just like they suspend applying the assessment values.

Isn't that the root of the problem, people not giving a crap, or if they do - not doing anything about it?

The 2018 Budget is cake compared to what the projected deficits coming in 2019, 2020 and beyond are , The deficits keep growing & growing , and how does the current council plan to deal with it , They want to grow the population back to 100,000, that a 30,000 increase, It's not Phoenix, Phoenix adds 30,000 people every 2 months LOL

And simply put just look around town

Look at our roads and infrastructure...

Look at the vacant buildings and homes...

Time for a real change. Not just a change of names but a change in the "social club" that has ran our town for years...

So anyone know what the people who are running against the Cheektowaga Democratic party up to?
Every month my neighbor Denis has his Dems meeting the street is filled with Dem cars, signs fill my street but I stand alone, stand strong !

Brian said he will be there, I have no idea if the public can ask questions. No idea what other candidates will attend.

Population loss is an issue all over the rust belt, not just this region or NYS, and higher taxed communities downstate are growing by leaps and bounds. That said, there was a small population increase and the economy is on the upswing. As for this election, Alice is viewing her term as little more than grudge match with Town Supervisor Benczekowski. Whether you like Diane or not, someone should not be serving in town government with the express purpose of using a seat in managing local government to attack another politician. Diane proposed merging Sanitation into the Highway Department, Alice opposed it so she could protect her friends that she had appointed by ethically challenged former party boss Frank Max. Just one example out of many. In the primary, I hope that everyone who's a registered Democrat votes for Meyers, Nowak and Rogowski, for the express purpose of sending Alice off to her retirement.

As for the Republicans, last time Delaney showed little interest in any issues except going negative on Alice. He looked like an empty slate, you can't just send out attack mailers, you have to give people a reason to vote for you as well (ask Hillary Clinton). The other Republicans are dead quiet. They can't win on one line, they didn't submit enough petitions for the Independence Line and they don't have the Conservative line, so they may decide it's not worth trying.

That's odd. Why wouldn't property owners be allowed to ask questions.
