    State tax refunds delayed?

    http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/new_yor...ay-tax-refunds

We're getting a small refund from the state this year, like $150. One comment on the article was from a woman freaking out that she won't be able to buy beds for her two kids because of the refund delay. All I can say to that is, your best bet is to claim as many exemptions as you possibly can and put the "extra" money into a savings or another safe interest-bearing account of some sort. If you owe the state at the end of the year then you have it to pay, but YOU have reaped the interest from it. Most people aren't disciplined enough for that. I wouldn't depend on a state refund for anything important.

But yeah, it sucks. And I'm particularly annoyed because this is a state that takes my money, has threatened me with huge fines because they have their head up their ass when it comes to accounting quarterly business taxes, and on top of that they think they have the right to legislate morality based on religious dogma. **** 'em. I'm going to charge the state 33% interest, compounded daily, for every day my refund is late. I know I won't get anywhere, but it's the principle of the thing and I'll feel good doing it.

I filled mine on Jan 31st, and my refund was deposited today...

Paterson's idea wouldn't pass until the budget does...

Hey, is it any wonder at all that NYS might not have enough money to pay all its bills and hand out tax refunds?

And, is it any wonder that the taxpayer comes in last?

Better get used to it or be prepared to do everything you can to make sure the slugs in Albany never get re-elected again.

Also, if it weren't for the fact that the federal government can operate at a deficit and borrow money, we'd be in the same boat with them.

Isn't it sad when we start referring to people we elected to represent us as THEM?

If you owed the state you probably wouldn't send them a check until April 15th, no?

    Just sayin...
