At Monday’s town board meeting the board unanimously approved a resolution to mandate audio recordings of Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings recognizing such recordings are in the best interest of the town and are to be archived for seven years. Such recordings would also be extremely valuable to the Town’s constituents to and the general public to have the ability to listen to the dialogue of previous meetings if persons were unable to attend a meeting.
At the public comment session prior to resolution consideration and vote, the writer suggested to the board taking this a step further by placing the town board meeting audio recording on the town website for all residents to have access for review. Currently, if an individual wishes to review a meeting recording they have to go to the Clerk’s office with a thumb drive for download of the recorded meeting – at no cost.
There are apps that allow such meeting recording transfer to be easily to linked to a site for review. A copy of last night’s town board meeting has already been sent me by Spaeakupwny.com poster Gorga – who posted last week’s meeting’s recording as well. Hopefully, the Speakup posting will continue until the town places such recordings on its website – if they so choose. Openness and transparency to the max!

Yes, I do seriously hope that they would start putting the recording on their website. If I wouldn't have been so tired this morning, I would have tried to download some software to separate the public hearings from the resolution part of the meeting.

It will be interesting to hear what the other board members have to say on the matter when at first some board members and the Town Clerk believed the recordings could not be posted on the website.
