Depew DPW without supervisor

Phillip Fleck, Depew’s Department of Public Works supervisor, was put on administrative leave indefinitely in mid-June, with pay, according to Michael Kinson, DPW crew chief.

Kinson and Michael Lucarelli, the village’s two crew chiefs, along with Village Administrator Maureen Jerackas, will continue to handle day-to-day operations for the department.

“I was sitting there, no one was at work yet, and the police chief and administrator came in, and I knew something was wrong,” said Kinson, referring to the day he learned Fleck was being placed on administrative leave.

“They just said something like ‘continue what you’re doing,’ so we’ve just been doing our daily stuff that we’ve been doing for years.”

Fleck had come in that day in June as well, according to Kinson, and left after about an hour.
