3 Buffalo schools added to state list

The State Education Department has placed another 15 schools on its registration review list due to low achievement levels.

Of the recently added schools, three are in Buffalo -- P.S. 61, the Herman Badillo School, and West Hertel Academy. Those three join 10 other Buffalo schools on the review list.

In all, the state now has 61 schools on the list, 40 of them located in New York City. The policy has been in place since 1989, requiring schools to meet certain academic performance targets.
