Through November 4
THE GOLDEN GIRLS THE LOST EPISODES vol 4: THE HALLOWEEN EDITION 4110 Bailey Avenue, Amherst/O’Connell & Company

“The Golden Girls” broadcast the last new episode May 9, 1992.
But, the TV show did not go gentle into the good night of syndication in those days, instead leading to spinoffs and constant rotation in this age of streaming television.
It also led to a series of stage novelizations of the tales of these four older women living in Miami, feeding a hard-core crowd of fans.
Shifting from the Alleyway Theatre to O’Connell & Company in Amherst, “Golden Girls” volume 4 of the mix of re-enactments of the stories and audience participation games of events in the TV show.
This year, there is also a costume show, symbolic of the production as “The Halloween Edition.”
The production feels different in its new venue, even with what are apparently sets from the former location and the show itself isn’t as good as past years, with the Halloween nature of the show not really grabbing you in your seat..
The audience didn’t really care.
They were hard-core “Golden Girls” fans.
In case you don’t know, it’s about for older women sharing a house, Dorothy (Michael Seitz), Rose (Joey Bucheker), Blanche (Michael “Bebe” Blasdell and Sophia (Matthew Ritttler).
As the cast names suggest, this is a drag show, something the cast has a lot of experience doing on stage.
This chapter revolves around Halloween activity and the occasional visitor to the front door, looking for a treat.
Besides the four principal characters, there were six others in the cast, with each playing a number of roles as the evening rolls on, including Todd Warfield (Ralph), the production’s director, scenic designer, sound designer and costume designer, a role shared with Bucheker.
A packed house enjoyed the costumes, the parties and the bad behavior from everyone on stage.
If you want to be one of the contestants on stage, brush up on your “The Golden Girls” lore, since the questions can require a lot of time spent in front of the big screen.
It’s all an entertaining way to spend some time in the Halloween season.
