BUFFALO, NY: Mike Madigan is seeking clarification on Representative Higgins’ attempted claim for de minimis personal use of a campaign leased vehicle, as reported with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The vehicle in question was leased, as per the FEC, on August 2, 2011 from West Herr Chevrolet for a $4,010.00 deposit, and a monthly payment of $536.92. The claim has many of the same characteristics of a case involving Representative Meeks (D-NY), who in 2001, sought and received FEC approval for a vehicle. However, FEC required a mileage log be kept, to ensure the vehicle was not being used in excess of 5% for personal use, and Representative Meeks was fined $63,000 by the FEC in 2008 for charges related to improper vehicle use.

Of the six candidates seeking the three seats in the newly formed NY-25, NY-26 & NY-27, Representative Higgins is the only one claiming a car lease on FEC documents.

Mike Madigan is Republican, Conservative and the Independence endorsed Congressional Candidate for the newly formed New York District 26. This district includes parts of former districts NY-26, NY-27 and NY-28.
