Davis Wins Independence Line

Voters in all seven counties which comprise the 26th Congressional District soundly rejected the straw man placed on the ballot by Tom Reynolds’ political machine.
Reynolds ducked the primary fight, fearing a loss to Davis would lend his re-election campaign an unmistakable stench of death. That is the fate that befell Erie County Executive Dennis Gorski when he lost the Independence Party primary to Joel Giambra in 1999.
Tuesday’s primary victory puts Davis within striking distance of Tom Reynolds in November’s general election.
The Independence line gave Reynolds 10,414 votes in his match against Jack Davis in 2004. When these votes switch to the Davis column, the race tightens to less than 5 percentage points.
“The patriots of the Independence Party are leading the movement to take our government back from the corporate special interests that are outsourcing our jobs and foreclosing our future,” says Jack Davis, Erie County businessman and Congressional candidate. “When I go to Washington, I will lead the fight for jobs and affordable health care for our forgotten middle class. It’s time our government put Americans first for a change.”
